Free Ada High School Winter Guard performance
The award-winning Ada Winter Guards will give a free community performance at 8 p.m. on Monday April 16, in the K-12 gym. The Ada High School Winter Guard, Ada High School Dance Line, and Ada Junior High Winter Guard will perform. All three teams have been undefeated in Ohio Indoor Performance Association competition this season.
Additionally, the High School Winter Guard was a national finalist in Nashville and the Junior High Winter took first place against 13 high school teams at a Mid East Performance Association contest at Wright State. The Winter Guards have a combined 18 state championships, 3 national championships, 6 national finalist appearances, and 1 international semi finalist appearance.
The Winter Guards will defend these title at the Ohio Indoor Performance Association State Championship in Wapakonetta on April 7 and at the Winter Guard International World Championships in Dayton on April 12-14.
The Ada High School Winter Guard’s show is entitled “Conjuring a Patronus,” and takes the audience through the process of learning this “advanced magic,” and ultimately dispersing a gym full of dementors with Harry Potter’s iconic spell.
Featuring flags, wands, and broom sticks this year’s program should an audience favorite. Members of the Ada High School Winter Guard include Jake Colwell, Samantha Crawford, Madison Preston, Gizem Tanriverdi, Lindsay Crouse, Madison Wright, Leona Dalton, Jacob Morgan, Daniel Nash, Jacob Bassitt, Kaylee Huffer, Olivia Hiester, Alyssa Wince, and Victoria Ross.
“Free the Elves” is the Ada Flag Line’s theme which continues Hermione’s quest to free the house elves from their masters by presenting them with socks. Members of the Flag Line include Mitchel Frazier, Olivia Thomas, Tessa Long, Alaina Robirds, and Olivia Green.
The Ada High School Dance Line’s show concept is entitled “Wizard Chess,” and portrays the dangerous game that Harry and Ron had to master to enter the Chamber of Secrets. Members of the High Dance Line include Paige Seitz, Rylie Roser, Cristina Theis, Jasmine Liembruger, Alaina Nash, Rebecca MacDonald, Kesewa Akyeampong, and Theodore Hadley.
The Ada Winter Guards are under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Lischak, Amy Webb, and Elizabeth Milks.
