Ada's Gossard, Newland to play in district All-Star Game

FINDLAY - Ada seniors Maddie Gossard and Sydney Newland were each voted first team Div. IV All-Northwest district in softball for the 2018 season.
The Lady Bulldog duo will play in the Div. IV vs. Div. III district All-Star softball game at Findlay High School Tuesday, June 5 at 6 p.m. It is a nine-inning game, and all players will get a chance to participate.
Ada third baseman/pitcher Gossard batted over .500, drilled a team-high eight home runs, hit 18 doubles and drove in 45 runs in 2018. She slugged over 1.000 and graduates as the program career leader in home runs and RBI.
Gossard will attend Heidelberg University and play softball there.
Ada four-year starting catcher Sydney Newland led the Lady Bulldogs in batting average, hitting at over a .550 clip. She hit 16 doubles, smacked four homers and drove in 45 runs. The speedy southpaw also led the team in runs and hits.
Newland has signed to play softball next season at the University of Northwestern Ohio, an NAIA program in Lima.
Gossard and Newland helped lead Ada to a 17-9 record and the first district title in program history in 2018. Both were named first team All-Northwest Conference as well.
