Sumner and Wilson named as Athletic Hall of Fame scholarship recipients

The Hardin County Sports Hall of Fame has announced the recipients for 2023 Scholarships. Courtney Sumner of Ada High School and Zeb Wilson of Hardin Northern High School will each receive a one-time $500.00 scholarship towards their academic endeavors.

Scholarship presentation will be made at a banquet on Saturday night, June 17, at St. John's Church in Kenton.

Sumner's future plans are to attend Ohio Northern University and major in Early Childhood Education. She explains, "While being at ONU I will also be playing basketball! After I graduate, I am hoping to become an elementary teacher and possibly even a basketball coach!"

Wilson will be attending Indiana Wesleyan University on a track and academic scholarship, majoring in Accounting. 

Zeb has earned Academic All-Ohio honors in track and basketball, NWCC All-Academic Team, NWCC 1st Team in track and cross country, NWCC 2nd Team in basketball and golf, Honorable Mention NW Ohio in basketball, was a two-time Regional Qualifier in cross country, and a State Qualifier in track.

He was on two County Champion cross country teams, two NWCC Champion cross country teams, and one Hardin County and NWCC Champion track team.

He has earned 11 varsity letters and was named Most Valuable Runner in track and cross country, Offensive Player of the Year in basketball, and earned the Polar Bear Award in golf.

He was selected as the Kenton Elks Male Teen of the Year and the Hardin County Fair King. He earned the Honda STEM award, the HN Math 4-year Award, the HN Science 4-year award, and maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout high school.

He was a six-year member of the HN marching band and served as Vice President and brass section leader, earned his State FFA Degree and served as Chapter Treasurer for the HN FFA, and was the HN Senior Class President. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the Kenton Alliance Church Youth Group, and is a percussionist for the KAC praise and worship team.
