Bulldogs run at Bath Invite

LIMA BATH TWP. - The Ada cross country team competed at the 12-team Bath Invitational Wednesday evening.

"We did not run our best times of the season despite a flat course and the weather being cooler," said Bulldog head coach Josh Klein.

Senior Miguel Jordan paced Ada with a time of 18:54 over the 3.1-mile course.

Junior Michael Crouse was second for the Bulldogs in 20:24, followed closely by classmate Hunter Wells in 20:28. Sophomore Jacob Morgan finished in 21:06, with freshman Riley Ferguson coming in at 24:17.

Keegan Giddens ran a 24:49 and senior Brice Ferguson finished in 28:56.

Ada girls edged in 5 at Paulding

PAULDING - The visiting Ada volleyball team lost a tough five-set marathon at Paulding Thursday night in a key Northwest Conference match.

After losing the 21-25, 25-21, 17-25, 26-24, 15-6 battle to the first-place Panthers, the Lady Bulldog spikers fall to 10-9 overall and 3-2 in the NWC.

It was their second league defeat in a row after Ada had won the previous 19 straight in league play over the past three seasons.

As the only unbeaten team left in NWC play, Paulding improved to 6-0 in the league and 9-6 overall with the hard-earned victory.

SR 81 east of Ada to close for 2 weeks

State Route 81 between township Road 55 and county Road 65, just east of the village of Ada, will close Oct. 1 for approximately 14 days for the replacement of two culverts. 

Traffic will be detoured onto state Route 235, state Route 701 and U.S. 68 back to state Route 81. 

Work is being performed by the ODOT Hardin County maintenance garage.

Undefeated Polar Bears play at Marietta Saturday

Saturday's Contest: Saturday's contest features a battle of league unbeatens as ONU is atop the OAC standings with a 3-0 mark and Marietta is tied with Mount Union one-half game back at 2-0. ONU is 535-492-36 in 124 seasons of play, a winning percentage of .518. ONU is riding a 6-game winning streak, which includes the final two games of 2017.

ONU Head Coach Dean Paul: Paul is in his 15th season at ONU with a 100-48 record. Paul is ONU's all-time winningest coach in ONU football history. He is 140-60 in 20 seasons overall and is 12-2 against MC.

Ada golfers 12th at sectional meet

ARLINGTON - The Ada boys golf team competed in the 13-team Div. III sectional tournament at Sycamore Springs Golf Course in Arlington Thursday.

Ada finished 12th with a score of 409 strokes. Van Buren won the team title with 318 strokes, followed by USV (337) and Columbus Grove (352).

Allen East came in sixth with 366 strokes.

Bulldog junior Ethan Hull posted the best 18-hole Ada score, coming in 26th with a 93. Sophomore teammate Brevin Sizemore ended up 46th with a round of 102.

Town and Gown committee accepting Distinguished Citizen nominations

This year's dinner is Nov. 5 in McIntosh Center

Ada's Town and Gown committee is accepting nominations for Ada's Distinguished Citizen of the Year, according to Deb Curlis, director of the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce.

This year's Town and Gown dinner is Monday, Nov. 5, at McIntosh Center on the ONU campus. Tickets are $20. More information on ticket sale locations and the program will follow on the Icon.
