Engineering marvel on Main

Spider webs are more apparent this time of year, especially on a moist, foggy morning. The boxwood at Liberty National Bank showed the handiwork of spiders building their traps to catch a meal. Spiders are beneficial because they feed on insects that are pests. Cobwebs are intricate marvels of engineering, beautiful and strong. Halloween is about a month away, but by then a cold freeze will have either killed the arachnids or forced then into hibernation mode.

Dogs enjoyed the Harvest and Herb Fest, as well as their owners. It’s a day for puppies to see lots of sights and smells from the aroma of funnel cakes to bees wax. A few dogs met up with their furry friends from the new Ada Dog Park.

Ada is not a particularly dog friendly town compared to other places. You’ll see “No Dogs Allowed” on several businesses. However, those working in the village government offices are always glad to see pooches.

Ada girls jousted by Black Knights

By Cort Reynolds

VAN BUREN - The Ada girls soccer team lost a road match to Van Buren Wednesday evening, 6-0.

The Lady Bulldogs fell to 3-6 with the defeat.

VB scored two quick goals late in the first half to take a 2-0 lead to intermission. The Black Knights then added four goals in half two, some in the final minutes, to win going away.

"We faced a very tough Van Buren team, but we played them very even for the first 35 minutes of the match," said Ada head coach Doug Poling.

"They put us more on the defensive in the second half," he continued. "We were able to keep them from getting a lot of shots off, but they managed to score."
