Library Card Sign-up Month at Ada Public Library; and a chance to wipe off your book fines

In celebration of Library Card Sign-Up Month the Ada Public Library is encouraging folks to come in and sign up for a library card.

Persons must be at least 3 years old; children under 18 years must be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian; adults must bring a valid drivers license or state ID. Sign-up is free.

From Sept. 1 to 30 the Ada Public Library will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Ada Food Pantry.

Patrons may also use the donations as a means to wipe fines off their accounts; each item donated equals $1 toward fines. Donations cannot count toward replacement costs of lost or damaged materials.

It's a bead art experience after school on Thursday at the library

Ready to create some bead art?

Kindergarteners through fifth graders have this opportunity after school on Thursday at the Ada Public Library.

From 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. perler bead art is the thing at the library. The staff says: "Kids can pop in after school to do this fun and simple craft."

There's lots more planned at the library in September.

Student find that it's not what you have, rather what you give

FROM ONU WEBSITE - Twenty-seven ONU students spent a week in the Dominican Republic this summer helping to operate outreach health clinics and construct a new medical facility.

ImageThe students departed Ada with 29 suitcases of donated medical supplies and toys, their knowledge of health care delivery, and their good intentions. They believed they were on a mission to change lives. Upon returning home, they realized it was their lives that had been changed.

You've heard of the beer crawl, a time when 20-somethings trek from bar to bar, usually in large cities, then crawl home because they are so drunk.

Well, 17 members of Theta Chi fraternity held a pizza crawl on Wednesday evening.

Here, they chow down on pies at the Depot Park. Before the night is through, the fraternity brothers will have tasted pizza from Viva Maria's, East of Chicago, 3 Brothers, and Padrone's.
