Six homes on historic home tour

The Hancock Historical Museum will host the 2018 Historic Homes Tour Saturday and Sunday, May 12 and 13, according to Sarah Sisser, director.

The Historic Homes Tour has been a springtime favorite for more than 40 years.

The biennial event showcases the beautiful historic architecture of the City of Findlay and Hancock County with homes dating from the 1840s to the 1920s and encompassing a wide variety of architectural styles.

The weekend will kick-off on Saturday. May 12, with a Champagne and Candlelight Preview from 7-10 p.m. Five featured homes will be open for a limited number of guests for the VIP tour.

Race issues in schools to be discussed

Hardin County Talks is an ongoing initiative that brings together community members to discuss issues of shared interest. On Tuesday, April 24, at 6 pm at Kenton High School, there will be a county-wide discussion on the role of schools in addressing issues of race.

 

Topics covered will include faculty diversity and what is being done to ensure that the faculty and staff are representative of the community. The goal is to highlight current initiatives in our schools and understand how those attending might support and strengthen them.

Juvenile diabetes walk set for Saturday

A Juvenile Diabetes Research Walk for a Cure will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 14 outside of the Sports Center at Ohio Northern University. The ONU Marching Band will provide a musical send-off for the walk, which will wind through campus. It is anticipated that between 100 and 200 individuals will take part in the event.

 

The walk is part of a larger event from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. that will include educational and fun booths and stations, as well as the ONU mobile health clinic, food vendors and games.

ArtSpace/Lima Spring Show opening April 20

ArtSpace/Lima, 65-67 Town Square, Lima, will host an opening reception for Spring Show 2018 on Friday, April 20, 6:30-8:30 p.m.  The reception is free and open to the public, according to Bill Sullivan, director.

Spring Show 2018 is the 63rd  edition of ArtSpace’s signature exhibit. Entries are accepted from within a 100-mile radius of Lima in the following categories:  painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, ceramics, sculpture, textiles, digital art and mixed media. 

Entries juried in will be displayed in the Ellen Nelson Gallery.  Additional works, not selected in the first round of jurying, but re-juried, will be on display in the Salon des refusés in ArtZone.

Spaghetti and fish dinners at Ada VFW

The Ada VFW has two events open to the public in April, both meals. They are:

 

Friday, April 13, 5-7 00 p.m. Spaghetti and meat balls dinner, all-you-can-eat. Adults $8 and children 10 and under $4.

 

Friday, April 27, 5-7 p.m.  Fish dinner, all-you-can-eat. Adults $8 and children 10 and under $4.
