More honors for Bruns

Ohio Northern junior Ryan Bruns (Chickasaw/Marion Local) was named 2nd Team All-America in men's basketball for 2018 in voting conducted by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and D3hoops.com.

Bruns was also named the OAC Men's Basketball Player of the Year and First Team All-Great Lakes Region this season.

He was second on the team, third in the OAC and 12th nationally in scoring at 24.0 ppg this year.

Baseball win streak at 6

CRESTVIEW HILL, Ky. — The Ohio Northern baseball team extended its winning streak to six games as it swept Thomas More (Ky.) 2-1, 13-7 on Sunday afternoon at Thomas More Field.

The Polar Bears improve to 10-3 overall, while the Saints fall to 2-7.

ONU swept the 3-game series at Thomas More after defeating the Saints 10-9 in extra innings on Thursday afternoon.

Women’s tennis wins again

The Ohio Northern women's tennis team swept Trine (Ind.) 9-0 on Sunday afternoon indoors at Westwood Tennis in Lima. Ada’s Mackenzie Wills won 6-2 and 6-2 at No. 4 singles and won at No. 2 doubles. The Polar Bears improve to 9-3 on the season.

Men’s lacrosse now impressive 6-1

ALFRED, N.Y. — The Ohio Northern men's lacrosse team overcame a 4-2 halftime deficit and rallied to defeat Alfred (N.Y.) 9-6 on Saturdayafternoon at Yunevich Stadium. The Polar Bears move to 6-1 on the season.

Seven Polar Bears scored for ONU, led by 2-goal efforts from junior Noah St. Croix(Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) and sophomore Patrick Moran (Austin, Tex./Bowie).

E. Douglas Reed, 1952 - 2018

E. Douglas Reed, age 65, was called home on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 8:08 a.m. at Lima Memorial Health System.

          Doug was born on November 3, 1952 in to the late Elvin D. and Betty (Rhodent) Reed.   On January 7, 1978 Doug married Patricia A. Lusk, they were married for 40 years and she survives in Waynesfield.  He was previously married to Lorraine Jenkins. 

Doug was a chemical operator for BP of Lima.  He was a member of the Waynesfield Baptist Church.  Doug was a jack of all trades and master of none, but often times better than a master of one.  He was known as “Poppy” to anyone who needed one.
