Saturday, Sept. 15, includes several new features

The next big event on Ada's calendar is the 33rd annual Ada Area Chamber of Commerce's Harvest and Herb Festival in downtown Ada, according to Deb Curlis, chamber director.

This year’s festival is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 15. As in past year’s, it will fill Ada’s Main Street from Highland to College.

The festival has 180 spaces available for vendors and so far over 130 spaces are signed-up. Crafters are encouraged to register as soon as possible to insure a booth.

Booths are 12 feet wide by 8 feet deep and are available while they last.

Is homecoming in the air at Ada High School? Looks like it. Here's today's announcements at AHS from the school website:

STUDENT-COUNCIL HOMECOMING: Guest request forms are available in the high school office for the Homecoming dance, Sept. 15.  If you are planning to bring a date who does not attend Ada High School, this form needs to be filled out and returned to the high school office by Sept. 14, by 3:30 pm.  Also, school fees will need to be paid before a ticket can be purchased.

There is a slight change in the times that presale football tickets will be sold at the Ada High School office this fall. Tickets will be sold from noon until 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays and from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Fridays.

Presale tickets are $4 for students and $5 for adults. Tickets at the gate are $6 for students and adults.

Mud volleyball fundraiser supports Dolly Parton Imagination Library

Photos and story by Monty Siekerman
Mud volleyball lived up to its name on Friday evening when ONU students got down and got dirty for a good cause.

Proceeds from the Founders Hall tournament support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Kenton. The fundraiser provides monthly books for children. The event has been a residence life tradition at ONU for 25 years.

It's a pre-season festival.

The Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival, concluding with a football drop moved from Super Bowl Eve to the NLF preseason this year.

The third festival took place on Saturday and, despite a rainy start, ended with a large crowd in a festive mood in the Ada railroad depot park.

The Icon will post festival photos throughout the week. We start things off with the conclusion and will work backward. Here's Monty Siekerman's photos of the festival as the evening headed to the football drop countdown.
