Drumming motivator

When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. That was the message of David Horning, comedian motivational speaker, who made two presentations in Ada this week. 

In this sketch he used drums to make his point.

He spoke to members of the Ada Rotary and, in this photo, made a presentation to the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce. Horning's brother is a freshman at ONU this year.

Bluffton Hospital establishes The Women's Center

$4.5 million project will begin this spring;
$1.5 million capital campaign will support project

The Women’s Center of Bluffton Hospital will be established at Bluffton Hospital this year as the hospital fine-tunes its focus to better serve women.
 
The announcement follows a yearlong evaluation of services and development of a long-term plan by the hospital administration.
 
“While continuing to maintain all of our current array of services, we’ve created a plan to specialize in women’s services,” Chris Keller, chief administrative officer of Bluffton Hospital, explained to The Icon earlier this week.
 

College financial aid meeting Jan. 27

Ada High School will hold its annual financial aid presentation for students, parents and community members at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 27, in the media center, according to Erin Prater, Ada High School guidance counselor.  

A representative from Ohio Northern University will provide information that is applicable to all colleges and universities. 

Topics to be discussed will be completing the FAFSA, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, sources for aid, and specific concerns of those attending. The meeting is open to the public.

Jamie Hall will serve as CIC presidents in 2016

Jami Hall, Ada’s assistant village administrator, was elected president of the Ada Community Improvement Corp. (CIC) at CIC’s reorganization meeting on Jan. 20.

Hall replaces Jim Meyer, Ada village administrator, who served as CIC president for several years. Meyer is now vice-president of CIC. Eileen Peterman was elected secretary and Angela Polachek, treasurer.

January elementary newsletter now on the Icon

Ada elementary will hold its honor roll assembly for 4th and 5th grades for the second nine-weeks at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 27. 

The assembly is in the school auditorium.

ReStore closed for painting starting on Wednesday

ReStore Community Center will be closed for painting from Wednesday, Jan. 20, it reopens at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 25.

According to ReStore's Facebook page, "To complete our remodeling we will be closed for three days to finish painting the store. Sorry for the inconvenience, but we think you will like the results!"
