Bulldog linksters third at county meet

KENTON - The Ada golf team finished a solid third out of five teams in the Hardin County Invitational Saturday at the Kenton Memorial Golf Course.

Upper Scioto Valley won the meet with 182 strokes, followed closely by host Kenton (182). Ada finished third with a season-low total of 202, ahead of Riverdale (209) and Ridgemont (237).

Brevin Sizemore paced Ada with a nine-hole score of 46. Teammate Alex Morgan was close behind, posting a 48. Ethan Hull carded a 52 while Austin Amburgey posted a 56.

Rob Allison added a score of 57.

Bulldog spikers split tri match

ARLINGTON- The Ada volleyball team split a pair of mon-league matches Saturday morning at Arlington.

The Lady Bulldog spikers are now 4-4.

Ada lost to powerful host Arlington in two sets 25-16, 25-21.

Junior setter Sidney Gossard passed out 11 assists while senior Rilan Conley knocked down five kills and made six digs.

Sophomore Megan Light drilled four kills and senior Morgan Swick contributed seven digs and served three aces. Sophomore Miranda Wills hustled up five digs.

Ada then defeated county foe Hardin Northern (2-3) in straight sets by scores of 25-16, 25-18.

ONU’s McVey wins by 23 seconds

Senior All-American Ian McVey cruised to an individual victory to lead the Ohio Northern men's cross country team to a second place finish to open the 2018 season at the Bluffton 6k Friday evening at the Bluffton Nature Reserve.

 

McVey completed the course in 18:52.99, winning the race by more than 23 seconds.

The Polar Bears (3-1) had seven out of the first 15 finishers to score 38 points, placing second. Findlay won the meet with 25 points while Ohio Christian took third with 70 points

Women’s cross country wins

The Ohio Northern women's cross country team began the 2018 campaign by winning the Bluffton 5k at the Bluffton Nature Reserve on Friday evening.

The Polar Bears (5-0) took four out of the top seven places and eight out of the top 13 places en route to victory.

ONU scored 31 points, Findlay took second with 69 points, and Bluffton placed third with 81 points.

Ada boys win as Poling scores hat trick

OLD FORT - The visiting Ada boys soccer team defeated Old Fort 4-1 Thursday evening.

Sophomore Jacob Poling scored three goals to pace the Bulldogs to victory, which upped their record to 2-2.

Junior Skylar Williams added the other goal.

Jon Allen, Isaac Spar, Brendan Sheridan and William Jolliff each registered an assist for Ada.

Junior keeper Drew Hadley made 10 saves in goal.

Ada (1-2 home) plays host to NCOSA foe Cory-Rawson Thursday, September 13. Their NWC match at Spencerville scheduled for August 25 was postponed.

The Bulldog reserves host Lincolnview Sept. 4.
