Soccer: Lady Bulldogs fall to Knights

Bearcats win NWC golf tourney

DELPHOS - Regular season champion Spencerville won the nine-team Northwest Conference golf tournament crown Wednesday at the Delphos Country Club.

The Bearcats won with just 341 strokes. Lincolnview took second (353), followed by Paulding (362), Bluffton (373), Allen East (375), Columbus Grove (383), Crestview (384), Delphos Jefferson (416) and Ada (469) in ninth.

"All the guys have improved a lot," said Bulldog head coach Jason Campbell of the young team's progress. "We have met the team goals that were set at the beginning of the season.

Ada travels to Spencerville next Friday in a week five road battle between 1-0 Northwest Conference foes coming off nailbiting wins.

The Bulldogs held off a 26-point second half rally at Delphos Jefferson to beat the defending NWC champions 35-33 in week four. Spencerville (2-2) won a thriller at Allen East in their league opener last Friday in overtime, 27-20.

Ada boys soccer wins again

NEW KNOXVILLE - The visiting Ada boys soccer team defeated New Knoxville 5-3 Tuesday evening to win their sixth match in a row.

The Bulldogs improved to 7-1 with the victory, their fourth straight on the road.

Ada (5-1 road) got three goals from Nate Allen to pave the way to the win. Logan Williams and Noah Pinkney each netted a goal and passed out an assist to support Allen's outburst.

Chris Reyes dished out two assists as well. Ace Gamble made three saves in goal.

Ada (2-0 home) hosts Liberty-Benton Thursday, Sept. 21 at 5 p.m.

Bulldog spikers sweep Jefferson

ADA - The Ada volleyball team ran its Northwest Conference win streak to 10 matches with a sweep of visiting Delphos Jefferson Tuesday evening.

 

The Bulldogs improved to 6-4 overall and 2-0 in NWC play with the 25-17, 25-12, 25-15 victory. The Wildcats fell to 4-7 overall and 0-2 in the NWC with the loss.

 

Senior southpaw Melina Woods led Ada with 30 kills, 11 digs, four blocks and once ace.

 

Cranmer OAC Women's golfer of the week

ADA — Ohio Northern freshman Lydia Cranmer (Farmington Hills, Mich.Ladywood) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Golfer of the Week for the week of Sept. 12-18.

Cranmer led the Polar Bears (14-3 overall) to a third place finish at the 13-team Heidelberg Fall Invitational on Saturday-Sunday at Mohawk Country Club.

She fired a career-low 75 in the final round and claimed Medalist honors with an 80-75—155 to lead Ohio Northern.

This marks the second time this season that Cranmer has won the award, as she was also honored on Sept. 5.

Thus far this season, Cranmer leads the Polar Bears with an 82.0 average for six rounds.

Volleyball moves back into AVCA poll at No. 22

ADA — The Ohio Northern volleyball team moved back into the national polls at No. 22 in the third weekly American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, released Tuesday afternoon.

The Polar Bears (9-3) received 268116 points in the poll, which is 152 more than the 116 they receivedlast week.

ONU was ranked No. 22 in the preseason poll and were No. 25 in the first weekly poll before falling out of the top 25 last week.

Northern went 3-1 last week, keyed by a 4-set victory over then-No. 12 Washington (Mo.) at the Wittenberg Fall Classic.
