Gordon Shivley was an ONU alum

Gordon R. Shivley, 71, an Ohio Northern University graduate, of rural Delphos, died on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at 7:17 a.m. at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.

He was born on Oct. 2, 1947 in Lima, Ohio, to the late Cleo Shivley and Marjorie {Stover} Shivley VanTilburg. On June 28, 1969, he married Velma Paroubek, who preceded him in death May 18, 2015.

Gordon is survived by his daughters, Julie (Brian) Woods of Lima and Amy (Shane) Hoback of Wapakoneta; five grandchildren, Leah, Sarah, and Michael Woods, Emma and Claire Hoback; sister Beth (Rich) Lininger of Florida, and brother Ron (Joan) Shivley of Indiana.

3rd district court hears oral arguments

March 27 at ONU College of Law

The Ohio 3rd District Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments at Ohio Northern University’s Pettit College of Law on Wednesday, March 27, at 10 a.m. in the Large Moot Court Room.

The Ohio 3rd District Court of Appeals judges include the Hon. John R. Willamowski, the Hon. Vernon L. Preston, the Hon. Stephen R. Shaw and the Hon. William R. Zimmerman. Willamowski, Shaw and Zimmerman are ONU Law alumni. 

Open house Sunday at 16534 TR 51

Property will be auctioned on April 20

An open house is set for 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, March 24, at 16534 Township Road 51, Bluffton.

The property will be auctioned on April 20. The property includes approximately 23.6 acres and a homesite in three parcels. The country home and building is on approximaately 2.5 acres in Section 30 of Union Township, Hancock County.

Siefker Real Estate and Auction Co., Ottawa, is handling the open house and auction.

ONU's Bruns DIII all-American again!

Ohio Northern senior All-American Ryan Bruns (Marion Local) has been named Second Team All-America by D3hoops.com for the second consecutive season.

He was also named Second team All-Region by the National Basketball Coaches Association and played in the Reese's NABC Division III Men's Basketball All-Star game on Saturday prior to the NCAA Division III National Championship game at the War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was a Second Team All-American by D3hoops.com and the NABC and was a First Team All-Region pick by both organizations last year.

Women empowerment conference March 29 at The Inn at ONU

A "Girls Enpowerment Conference," is planned next week in Ada by the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance.

The program is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, March 29, at The Inn at ONU. The program includes a panel discussion of Hardin County women leaders.

Seating is available at $10 each and to RSVP  call 419-673-4131.

Ada school board meets March 26

Ada school board will meet at 6 p.m, Tuesday, March 26, in the board meeting room for its March meeting, according to Meri Skilliter, Ada superintendent.
