Concert for youngsters

The Ohio Northern University Department of Music will present the Ohio Northern Symphony’s “Interactive Family Concert” at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 5 in the Freed Center. An “instrument petting zoo” will begin at 2:30 p.m. in the Freed Center Lobby.

 

The concert will be conducted by music director Travis Jürgens. Concert activities are designed for preschool through early elementary students, but attendees are encouraged to bring the entire family--infants through grandparents. 

 

Men’s tennis advances in tourney

Ohio Northern advanced to the semifinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Tournament with a hard-fought 5-3 quarterfinals victory over Capital on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon at University Courts.

The third-seeded Polar Bears (15-8 overall) advance and will play second-seeded Mount Union in the semifinals on Friday at 4:30 pm at the Lindner Tennis Center in Mason.

The sixth-seeded Crusaders end their season at 5-9.

Northern started the match by winning at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles.

Ada Troop 124 100th Anniversary Dinner

Boy Scout Troop 124 held its 100th anniversary dinner at Camp Berry, Findlay, on Saturday April 14.  Prior to dinner Don Spar, Cubmaster Pack 124, gave golf cart tours of the camp to anyone that wanted one.

Sewer funds available

The Kenton Hardin Health Department has been approved by the Ohio EPA for Water Pollution Control Loan Fund, WPCLF, funds totaling $100,000 for 2018. This money can be used for failing existing sewage treatment systems or sanitary sewer tap-ins for those families or individuals who meet 100, 200 or 300% poverty guidelines. Blanchard Pleasant Buckeyes 4H meeting held

The Blanchard Pleasant Buckeyes met on April 30th in the Hardin Northern Ag Room.  Recreation for the night was kickball led by Heidi Trachsel.  The meeting was led by Emma Miller.  The pledge to the flag was led by Casey Clem and the 4-H pledge by Kylee Clem.  There were 37 members present, 10 advisors, and 5 guests. 

 

Quality Insurance was went over for the next meeting and discussed by Jack McBride.  Bob McBride talked over projects and talked to everyone about what had been done with their projects so far.  Vern Woodruff discussed the demonstration contest that is held to get into the state fair. 

 

Baseball: ONU 13, Olivet 2

The Ohio Northern baseball team recorded 13 hits on Tuesday afternoon on its way to defeating Olivet (Mich.) 13-2 at Wander Field.

The Polar Bears improve to 27-11 overall, while the Comets fall to 10-25.
