10-school quiz bowl competition here Monday

Eight quizzes will be going on consecutively

Note: The quiz bowl competition was moved to Feb. 12 after a winter weather delay last Monday.

Want to quickly know the answer to most any question?

Students from 10 schools can probably recite the correct answer on Monday because academic scholars from 10 area schools will be here for a Quiz Bowl competition.

The quizzing starts at 4:30 p.m. and will last until 8 p.m. when a champion is crowned. Junior and senior high school students from Ada, Bluffton, Cory-Rawson, Crestview, Elida, Hardin Northern, Kenton, Liberty Benton, Riverdale, and USV will be on hand for the annual Ada Invitational this year.

Last Friday night, the Ada High School boys' basketball team won a double-overtime thriller at Spencerville, 48-45. Ada (4-14, 2-3 NWC) won their first NWC road game since Feb. 6, 2015 and also recorded their first road win of the season (now 1-8 as visitors).

The Bulldogs rallied from a six-point halftime deficit to tie Spencerville (2-13, 1-4) at 38 at the end of regulation. After Spencerville freshman Dalton Pritchard hit a tough two-point shot to send the game into a second overtime, Ada closed the game out by winning the final period, 6-3.

Wilkie Wright, 1925 - 2018

Wilkie Wright, age 92, died on Thursday, February 08, 2018 at 6:50 a.m. at the Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy.

          He was born on December 26, 1925 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to Birl and Clora (Hall) Wright who preceded him in death.  On July 22, 1951 Wilkie married Susie Hicks and she survives in Piqua.

          Wilkie retired in 1981 after working for 37 years at Sheller Globe, Superior Coach Division of Lima. He later worked for the Hardin County Highway Dept retiring in 2001.  Wilkie attended the Alger United Baptist Church.

Retirement night at Bluffton's Jeanne's Kitchen Friday night

And the menu is Italian

Ada resident Jeanne Previte announced on Facebook that Friday, Feb. 9, is her "retirement night" from Jeanne's Kitchen, 112 Vine St., Bluffton.

The evening's menu is appropriately Italian.

"We will have Italian antipasto appetizers, Italian wedding soup, Italian vegetable
salad, lasagna or cheese ravioli, Pete's sausage peppers and onions and home dessert," she said.

Dinner hours are 5 to 7:30 p.m. Reservations are suggested by calling 419-234-8650.

College Credit Plus meeting Monday

There will be a College Credit Plus information meeting for parents of students in grades 6-11 at the Ada School auditorium at 7 p.m. on Monday. For more information, see Ad Bulldogs Facebook page.

Paul Craun announces candidacy for Hancock County commissioner

Paul Craun, member of the Ada Community Improvement Corp (CIC) and construction professional, announced that he has filed to run for Hancock County commissioner in the May 8 Republican primary. 

He will be emphasizing “Leading Together” as the theme for his campaign, bringing together business, community and government.

He has experience in supporting local economic development groups and in working with many small and large businesses and community groups across northwest Ohio.
