Wind Orchestra to perform Friday

The ONU Wind Orchestra will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 28 in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts.

This is the opening concert of the annual ONU Spring Band Festival, now in its 42nd year. The Wind Orchestra, under the direction of Thomas A. Hunt, will offer a program of challenging music for winds and percussion, including works by John Williams, Leonard Bernstein, Antonin Dvorak, and the Spring Band Festival’s guest composer and conductor, Jay Bocock.

This program also will be performed by the Wind Orchestra when it tours Luxembourg and Germany in May.

Robert D. "Bob' Hubbell 1929 - 2017

Robert D. “Bob” Hubbell, age 87, died on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 6:52 p.m. at Vancrest of Ada.

            He was born on August 7, 1929 in Ada, Ohio to Samuel C. and Lavon (Rowles) Hubbell who preceded him in death. On November 19, 1950 Bob married Wilma Mae Mansfield and she died on December 19, 2010.

            Bob retired in 1996 after working 45 years for the Sprint Telephone Company of Lima in Public Relations and Community Division. During his time at Sprint he also worked in Central Office Maintenance, station repairman, sales, division sales manager.

Bradley L Campbell 1931 - 2017

Bradley L. Campbell, age 85, died on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 9:00 p.m. at Hardin Hills Health Center, Kenton.

          He was born on June 23, 1931 in Auglaize County, Ohio to Ronald M. and Carol L. (Barnes) Campbell who preceded him in death. On August 2, 1952 Bradley married Ruby E. Preston and she preceded him in death on February 16, 2015.

Jean E. Woodruff Eibling retired after 25 years an ONU's RN

Jean E. Woodruff Eibling, age 79, died on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 12:40 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.

She was born on June 12, 1937 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio to Orville Dean and Mary Evelyn (Kinley) Wisner who preceded her in death. On October 2, 1960 she married Robert L. Woodruff, they were married for 34 years, he died on July 1, 1994. Jean later married Lloyd H. Eibling, they were married for 12 years, he died on August 10, 2010.

Ada Lions have mulch for you

Over $67,000 in profits for scholarships in the past 16 years

The Lions Club annual mulch sale began Saturday.

Black or brown mulch can be ordered by calling 419-634-5626 or 419-302-5897 for pickup or delivery on Saturdays between now and the end of May.

Purchasing mulch from the Lions goes to a good cause since the club has given over $67,000 in profits to local students for scholarships from the sale in the past 16 years.

For pickup, the piles of mulch can be found at Bass Trucking, just west of Ada on SR 81. Lions will be there on Saturdays by 8 a.m. Delivery is available for $10 in Ada and $20 in Kenton or Lima. A Bobcat scoop costs $30 for brown and $35 for black.
