ONU softball loses to Heidelberg

The Ohio Northern softball team fell 4-3, 4-1 on Senior Day in a twinbill against Heidelberg at the ONU Softball Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears fall to 23-11 overall and 9-7 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Student Princes improve to 24-9-1, 13-2-1.

ONU honored seniors Megan Hupp (Delaware/Olentangy) and Paige Ordean (Fort Loramie) prior to the contests.

ONU women win Polar Bear invite

The No. 9 nationally ranked Ohio Northern outdoor women's track and field team celebrated it Senior Day with a first place victory at the annual Polar Bear Invitational on Saturday afternoon at Kerscher Stadium.

The Polar Bears improve to 69-4 overall with the first place finish.

ONU men's track

The Ohio Northern outdoor men's track and field team posted a second place finish among 8 schools at the annual Polar Bear Invitational to celebrate Senior Day at Kerscher Stadium.

The Polar Bears improve to 57-15 overall.

ONU recognized seniors A.J. Cody (Findlay/Liberty-Benton), Eric Collins (Strongsville), Cully Gordon (Holmesville/West Holmes), Andrew Harden (Dayton/Vandalia-Butler), Matthew Hommer (Swartz Creek, Mich./Lake Fenton), Evan Murtha (Pickerington/North), Cameron Rusnak (Lorain/Open Door Christian), Kase Schalois (Van Wert), Lucas Shumate (Wapakoneta/Spencerville) and Adam Smith (Rocky River).

Liberty Belles and Boys held their third meeting

Liberty Belles and Boys held their third meeting for the 2017 season on Tuesday, April 18.  There were 8 advisors and 28 members in attendance.  After learning more about parliamentary procedure, the club welcomed 10 new members for a total of 42 members.  The club then held their first official business meeting.  Roll call was answered by naming your favorite junk food. New business was to change the person who received the bank statement to Adam Baumgartner and to add member Megan Light, club treasurer to the checking account.  Motion was made, seconded and passed.  Project books were passed out and the club talked about how to use rubrics as a guide to completing your project.  Another

Ada's solar array

Kevin Mierzcjewski, flying high over west Ada, captures the solar array at ONU. The football stadium is to the left. The array has 18,000 panels on 11 acres of land and is the first array in Ohio which tracks the movement of the sun. ONU provided the land for the $4 million project and contracted with AEP Energy of Chicago to pay for the installation and operation. ONU will purchase electricity directly from the array without needing to invest capital in the array’s construction and maintenance.  The array produces about 2 megawatts of electricity annually.
