You'd think there's a football festival coming to town soon

And, you are correct - it's Saturday, Feb. 4

Amy Eddings, cochair of the "Made in Ada Wilson Football Festival," stands by a Festival banner that hangs at Easter House Bed and Breakfast, 508 N. Main.

She and ONU First Lady Chris Burns DiBiasio head up the committee organizing the first-ever festival celebrating Ada as the Football-Making Capital of the World.

The banner was donated by Comstor Outdoor, one of several local businesses that are sponsoring the event.

The inaugural Ada football drop is set for Saturday, Feb. 4, the day before the Super Bowl.

Memorial service Jan. 26 for Stoney Shough

Stoney J. Shough, 48, died on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, at his residence in Lima.

He was born on Aug. 29, 1968 in Kenton, Ohio, to Rocky E. and Rhonda (Stephenson) Shough. His father preceded him in death and his mother and step father, Chalmer and Rhonda Rowe survive in Alger.

Stoney worked for Nickles Bakery in Lima.

He was a member of the New Birth Living Word in Alger. He was a 1987 graduate of Upper Scioto Valley High School and Hi-Point Career Center.

Also surviving is a son, Kyle (Desiree) Shough of Kenton; a daughter, Stachia Tillman of Kenton; four grandchildren: Kailer Rodriguez, Owen Shough, Channing Tillman and Saige Wise.

Master gardening classes accepting students

The Master Gardeners Volunteers of Allen, Hardin and Hancock counties will
offer the Master Gardener Volunteer training program at the OSU-Lima
Campus this spring.

This program provides 50 hours of intensive training in horticulture to interested gardeners who then commit to 50 hours of volunteer service in their home county  assisting with Master Gardener Volunteer sponsored educational programs and activities for residents. Volunteer opportunities and projects vary by county.

Specialists from the Ohio State University Extension and experienced Master
Gardener Volunteers will teach sessions along with some local experts.

Soup's on next Friday at Liberty

Liberty National Bank, Main Street, Ada, invites Icon viewers to a "soup"er Bowl Party.

It's from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday, Jan. 27, in the bank. Employees will bring in their favorite soupts for you to enjoy.

It's free and open to the public.

There's a new bear in town

There’s a new bear in town. The only way you’ll get one is if your parents or caregivers take you to Bluffton Pediatrics as a patient.

Ada business owner Tom Dotson of Tommy Tire, teamed up with Beth Bish of Bluffton Pediatrics in the project.

Now every little kid who needs to see Nurse Practitioner Bish goes home with a new stuffed animal.

There two sizes, one for infants to toddlers and another for youth 3 and up.
