Three click!

Three clicks is all it now takes to access thousands of documents concerning local historical and genealogical significance at the Ada Public Library, according to Amanda Bennett, director.

"The Ada Public Library recently digitized its entire collection of 104 microfilm reels  - donating said reels to the Hardin County Genealogical Society, Kenton -  allowing for free and easier access to all 24 hours a day, she added.

Documents included, in varying years:

Weed Control Strategies is the focus of the next Conservation Tillage Club breakfast program Tuesday, Jan. 28 at the Plaza Inn in Mt. Victory. The meeting will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a complimentary buffet breakfast followed by the program at 8 a.m.  The program will feature Harold Watters, OSU Extension Field Specialist, Agronomic Systems. 

Sue Zimmer retired after serving 35 years at Liberty National Bank

Sue Zimmer, Senior Vice President of Operations at Liberty National Bank, recently retired after serving 35 years.

Zimmer began her career with Liberty National Bank in February of 1979. Over the years, she has held various positions within the bank including Assistant Cashier, Data Processing Manager, Assistant Vice President, Vice President, and her latest position as Senior Vice President and Senior Operations Officer. Her last day at the office was Dec. 31, 2013.

Ohio Northern University associate professor of business Jill Christopher, along with fellow colleagues Dexter Woods, professor of business administration, and Robert Kleine, associate dean and professor of marketing, co-authored an article that will appear in the spring 2014 edition of Accounting Instructors’ Report.

John J. Bishop and The Motorists Insurance Group Endowed Scholarship Fund to be introduced this fall

Ohio Northern University has established the John J. Bishop and The Motorists Insurance Group Endowed Scholarship Fund to benefit students in ONU’s new risk management and insurance (RMI) program, which will be introduced by the Dicke College of Business Administration in fall 2014.

The scholarship will provide financial support for qualified ONU freshmen who pursue professional careers in insurance or risk management through the RMI major.

John and Shirley Bishop donated a significant gift to the scholarship fund.

Allen Lynn Hughes, 52, died on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 at 7:22 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima, Ohio.

He was born on Aug. 31, 1961 in Lima, to Phillip and Diana (Wheeler) Hughes. His father preceded him in death and his mother survives in Harrod. On Jan. 31, 1987 he married Marcy (Coates) and she survives in Harrod. He is also preceded in death by grandparents Weiser (Bud) and Vida (Smith) Hughes and Victor and Maxine Wheeler.

The Ada High School Varsity Singers travelled to Piqua on Jan. 18, to perform in the 31st Annual Piqua High School Show Choir Invitational Competition. The event was hosted by Piqua’s show choir, "The Company," and the Piqua Music Boosters.

The Varsity Singers performed their 2013-14 competition show titled, “Wake Up America,” in the Hartzell Center for the Performing Arts.

Ohio Northern University presents “An Evening With the Lacks Family” in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m. Free and open to the public, this event is sponsored by ONU’s Committee on the Arts and Special Events, Freed Center for the Performing Arts, and Office of Multicultural Development.

Despite January's weather delays, lots of activities take place in Ada schools this month. Here's a list of current activities taken from the school website
