Ohio Northern University student Andrea Kalchik, a senior psychology major from Zanesville, Ohio, has been awarded a University Presidential Fellowship from the University of Notre Dame.

Kalchik was one of 25 selected for the fellowship in a University-wide competition. Kalchik will be pursuing a doctoral degree in psychology at the University of Notre Dame in the Cognition, Brain and Behavior Area. She will be researching memory and forgetting with Dr. G.A. Radvansky.

Has winter run its course? During March 1-24, the area had 11 days with snow on the ground, according to Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer.

What classes are you taking this semester?
College Prep English II, AP U.S. History, French III, Pre-Cal/Trig, Advanced Chemistry, Government and Anatomy/Physiology.

How about your sports activities?
I play basketball, volleyball and softball. Basketball is my favorite. I play point. My best game this year was the first game against Cory-Rawson. I scored 22 points and had a good game overall. In volleyball I’m a hitter and in softball I’m a pitcher.

Anna Mary Titus Shanks, 96, died on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 1:31 p.m. at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus.

She was born on September 12, 1917 in Johnston, Ohio to Walter A. and Edith (McCamey) Titus and they preceded her in death. On August 2, 1939 she married Robert S. Shanks and he died on January 9, 1991.

Ohio Northern University’s Pettit College of Law and ONU’s Center for Democratic Governance and Rule of Law present Rachel Kleinfeld, senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, as part of the Dean’s Lecture Series in the Celebrezze Moot Court Room on Wednesday, April 2, at 11:30 a.m.

Dr. Charles "Chuck" Johnson, 74, died on March 13, 2014 at 12:37 p.m. at Lima Memorial Health System in Lima, Ohio.

He was born on May 24, 1939 to Henry and Orleone (Olson) Johnson, who preceded him in death.

Charles graduated from Windom High School in Windom, Minn., in 1957. Following graduation, Charles attended the Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis to become a baker.

On any given day Lynne Scott is probably tugging her mud boots on and heading for her Good Shepherd Boarding Kennel or donning her galaxy skull leggings to lead a Zumba class as a licensed instructor.

Lynne’s days are filled with Zumba and Zumba Gold classes, meeting clients, scheduling kennel appointments and, oh, Lynne Scott is also an author.
