Altstaetter served on the piano faculty at Ohio Northern University for 13 years. On the weekends he plays keyboards with the local rock band, the Hipnotix, from Lima. He is also the principal organist/ pianist at Trinity United Methodist Church.
The Ada Boy Scouts Troop 124 met recently at the St. Mark¹s Lutheran Church for their Court of Honor. This is a ceremony run by the boys to honor their achievements and advancements.
The Master of Ceremonies was Aaron Spar, who serves as the Troop Scribe. The celebration opened up with Jacob Butterfield, Quartermaster, leading those attending in the Pledge of Allegiance and Deavan Scott, Troop Guide, guiding the group in the BS Oath. Mr. Kurtz, Troop Chaplain, led them in prayer before they shared their favorite pizza.
Anthony John “Tony” D’Arca, 23, died on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, at 9:13 p.m. at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
He was born on Jan. 17, 1991 in Lima, Ohio to Rick John and Laura Denise (Bontz) D’Arca and they survive in Ada.
Tony worked at Harco Industries of Kenton. He was a bronze medalist bowler for the Special Olympics and had a special love for Sesame Street, Disney and Dr. Suess. He was loved by all who knew him.
Also surviving are brother, Paul Joseph D’Arca of Columbus; sister, Nikki Paynter of Chestertown, Md.; and paternal grandmother Ronnie Bell of Palatine, Ill.
The Ohio 3rd District Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments in two cases in the Moot Court Room of Ohio Northern University’s Pettit College of Law on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 10 a.m.
Judges Richard Rogers, Stephen Shaw, Vernon Preston and John Willamowski, sitting in panels of three, will hear the oral arguments in two cases pending before the Court of Appeals. Rogers, Shaw and Willamowski are alumni of Ohio Northern’s College of Law.

Ohio Northern senior All-American Cody Lovejoy is ranked No. 1 nationally at the Heavyweight weight class in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III poll on Tuesday afternoon.
Lovejoy is 18-0 on the season with an impressive 13 pins.
A two-time Elite 89 Award winner, Lovejoy finished seventh at the 2014 NCAA Division III Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
This marks the second time in three seasons that a Polar Bear has been ranked atop his weight class after two-time National Champion and current assistnt coach Kyle Kwiat was ranked No. 1 for most of the 2012-13 season.
