Ohio Northern junior Allie Gast and sophomores Matt Molinaro and Emily Richards had solid runs on the first day of the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Indoor track & Field Championships on Friday afternoon at the Bear Recreation and Athletic Center.
Gast entered the meet seeded 17th of 17 runners in the 60 hurdles and finished 15th overall. She ran at :08.97 in her preliminary heat, which was just .05 of a second off her career-best time in the event.
Molinaro rallied on the home stretch for a second place finish in his heat, finishing in 1:54.58. He will be seeded third in the finals on Saturday at 3:45 pm (CST).
It's AmeriCorps Week and the Ada Public Library is in celebration mode.
"We are grateful for Max Gauthier, Guiding Ohio Online/AmeriCorps volunteers at the Ada Public Library," Amanda Bennett, library administrator, told The Icon.

Two ONU sophomores were name Great Lakes Region athletes of the year on Wednesday. The two are Matt Molinaro and Emily Richards.

Sophomore Matt Molinaro was named the Great Lakes Region Men's Track Athlete of the Year.
The sophomore is currently ranked seventh nationally in the 800-meter with a record breaking time of 1:52.64, breaking the previous record of 1:53.50 set at the All-Ohio meet by former Polar Bear Jimmy O'Brien.
Molinaro also won the 800-meter run at the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, where he was named the OAC Distance Runner of the Year.
Virgie Warmbrod, age 93, died on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at 3:17 AM at her residence in Alger.
She was born on March 19, 1922 in Hueysville, Floyd County, Kentucky to Dillard and Rosie (Vanderpool) Bailey who preceded her in death. Virgie married Hager Justice on July 19, 1939 and he preceded her in death on February 20, 1971. She later married Donald Warmbrod on July 29, 1972 and he preceded her in death on September 23, 1997.
Virgie was a homemaker. She previously worked at the Ada Laundry for 4 years as well as the Oldaker Manufacturing Company in Dunkirk for 3 years. She attended the Presbyterian Church in Dola and Ada.

Della A. Thompson, 61, of Ada died at 11:47 a.m., March 5, 2016, at Bridge Hospice, Findlay. Della was born March 10, 1954, in Kenton to Newt and Evelyn Smith Thompson and they preceded her in death.
Della worked in the cafeteria at Ohio Northern University. She was a member of Riley Creek Baptist Church, Bluffton, where she was active in the Ladies Bible Study and helped in the nursery. She loved to read the Bible. Della was a 1974 graduate of Ada High School.
