Ada Area Chamber of Commerce met the new guy in town earlier this month.

The new guy is Tom Dotson, and his business name is Tommy Tires.

Dotson and his wife, Sheena, this winter expanded their tire Bluffton business with an Ada location at 3032 State Route 309 (intersection of 309 and 235).

A ribbon cutting of the Ada store took place on March 16. The event also included a tour of the facility for the chamber. The building a former carpet warehouse,  includes a 40 by 80-foot addition that will service semis.

The Ada VFW will hold a pollack fish fry from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 25, at the VFW on State Route 235 north of Ada.

The dinner includes pollack from Keystone, french fries, roll, coleslaw and dessert. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for youth under 10.

This year's Community Health Professionals Hospice-Beacon of Hope dinner and charity auction is in April, according to Deb Curlis.

The event on Thursday, April 28, includes a 6 p.m. dinner followed by a 7 p.m. auction, held in the ONU ball room of the McIntosh Center. Tickets are $20 and are available at Community Health Professionals of Ada, 1200 S. Main St.

"Ike," the Ada Icon mascot poses in a "selfie" that the Icon entered in the Hardin County Department of Job and Family Services selfie pinwheel contest.

That organization invites all Hardin County businesses to take a photo of your business and employees with at least one pinwheel in the photo.

Email photos by April 1 to [email protected]. All entries will be in the contest.

According to Barbara Maxson, director, the winning business will be provided with a prize that is appropriate for the organization.

Ada Family Center will have a breakfast and service beginning at 9 a.m. on Sunday. The church meets in McIntosh Center. Ray Hadley is pastor.

Easter service at the First Baptist Church, 350 W. North Ave., include a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. On Sunday there will be a breakfast at 8 a.m., Sunday School at 9 a.m., and worship at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Jack Duffy is pastor.

Easter weekend services at Bethel Church of Christ include a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. and an early service at 8:30 a.m., breakfast at 9:45 a.m., and worship at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday. The church is located at 4014 CR 304 (Lincoln Highway). Brandon Mayden is minister.

Easter Sunday activities at Ada First United Methodist Church, 301 N. Main, include a youth-led service at 8 a.m., breakfast at 8:45 a.m., and an Easter celebration at 10 a.m. Rev. Mary Jo Yeakel is pastor.

The congregation will have a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. with Sugar Grove United Methodist Church at neighboring Sugar Grove, 4945 SR 81, east of town.

Ada First Presbyterian Church, at Main and Lincoln, Easter schedule includes an early service at 7:30 a.m., breakfast at 8 a.m., Sunday School at 9 a.m., and regular worship at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Patrick D. Allen is pastor.

Three events are planned this spring at the Ohio Northern University Observatory according to Dr. Jason Pinkney, of the Department of Physics and Astronomy. They follow:

• Friday, April 1 - 9 - 11 p.m., "Galaxies in Spring"
• Friday, April 15, 9 - 11 p.m., "Craters and Maria of the Moon"
• Monday, May 9, 9 - 11 a.m.., Mercury transits the Sun! (7:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.)
