USV elementary teachers will be helping at Ada McDonald's on Monday night to help raise money for the school.

They compete against Ada, which had a large number of people turn out last Monday. The schools all share in a percentage of sales, but the school system with the most sales gets an extra $150.

So, now it's up to Rams to try to top Ada's sales between 5-8 p.m. on Monday

The Ohio Northern men's swimming and diving team will look to rebound in 2017-18 and claim its 13th Ohio Athletic Conference Championship under the guidance of 14th-year head coach Peggy Ewald. 

The Polar Bears posted a 5-4 record last season and finished second at the OAC Championships in 2016-17 after posting 12 straight OAC Championship seasons.

Ewald and her staff welcome back a deep roster that includes 14 letterwinners.

"Recapturing conference titles and looking beyond to the national stage is the pursuit," said head coach Peggy Ewald. "

Ewald and her staff welcome back 10 letterwinners in 2017-18 and will look to lean on their experience in 2017-18.

Kyley Stuart also returns after earning All-OAC honors as a part of the 200 Medley Relay.

The Polar Bears open the season on Oct. 14 as the swimmers compete in the Kenyon Relay Meet and the divers in the Denison Diving Meet.

Sophomore Christiaan Williams (Sidney/Anna) has been named to the D3Football.comTeam of the Week for his efforts in Ohio Northern's 51-21 victory over Capital on Oct. 7.

Williams broke ONU's 17-year old single game rushing record, compiling 407 yards on 29 rushes.

The sophomore also added three touchdowns in the victory as he broke Ohio Northern Hall of Famer Jamal Robertson's previous single game record of 307 rushing yards.

Williams also caught one pass for five yards for a total of 412 all-purpose yards, breaking Robertson's single game record of 406 yards also set in 2000.

Ada Rotarians gave dictionaries to third graders on Wednesday. Pictured with some of the students in the background are Jamie Hall, village administrator, and Mark Wipper of the ONU development staff.

Senior J.J. Fortner (Maumee/Anthony Wayne) scored two first half goals to help lift the Ohio Northern men's soccer team to a 4-0 shutout victory over No. 8-ranked Heidelberg on Wednesday in Ada.

The Polar Bears improve to 9-4-1 overall, and 2-2-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference and handed Heidelberg its first loss of the season to drop the Student Princes to 9-1-1, 2-1-1.

Linda L. Vermillion, age 73, died on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 12:15 p.m. at her residence in Ada. 

She was born on April 6, 1944 in Hardin County, Ohio to Otas W. and Annabelle M.(Smith) Reese, who preceded her in death. 

On June 1, 1963, she married Thomas J. Vermillion and he survives in Ada. 

Linda retired as a cook from Ada Schools. 

She formerly worked as a dispatcher for the Ada Police Department and as a cook at the Ada Kentucky Fried Chicken. 

She was a 1962 graduate of McGuffey High School and then received her beautician's license from Fredrick's Beauty College in Lima. 

ONU music and theatre arts students will present "Carrie the Musical" at the Freed Center from Oct. 19-22.

The show is adapted from Stephen King's horror novel "Carrie" but has gone through many rewrites from the time the musical was originally produced in England to a limited 1988 Broadway production to an 0ff Broadway revival.

Briefly, here's the story: Carrie White is a misfit - awkward, unattractive, heavy.  At school, she’s an outcast who’s bullied by the popular crowd and virtually invisible to everyone else.
