Mississippi Bones' new album includes a spoof on old tabloids

The Ada-based band Mississippi Bones is releasing a new album titled “Wise Words from the Uninformed,” according to Dusty Donley.

He told the Icon that the album cover and artwork are a spoof of old tabloids like the Weekly World News.

“The record itself comes with a full tabloid magazine,” said Donley. “Each song on the album is an ‘article’ in the magazine.”

This is the sixth full-length album and 15th release by the band since 2010.

“Originally, we're all from the local area, with most of us graduating from Ada and Hardin Northern,” he added.

ADA - The Ada girls basketball team played hard but came up short to visiting Van Buren 58-47 in a non-conference contest Tuesday night.

Thought to be out for the season after an October car accident, Lady Bulldog senior post Miranda Wills miraculously recovered to make her season debut Tuesday.

"Just her presence on the floor, her energy and enthusiasm, means a lot," said Ada third-year head coach Morgan Bass. "Her hustle and vocal leadership adds a level of energy to the team."

No where in the rules does it state that the photos in the quiz need to follow the season.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lt. Governor Jon Husted provided the following updates on Ohio's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

VACCINATIONS BEGIN IN OHIO
The first COVID-19 vaccinations have been administered in Ohio. Shipments of 975 doses were delivered this morning to both The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus and UC Health in Cincinnati.

Several healthcare workers and personnel who are routinely involved with the care of COVID-19 patients immediately received vaccinations.

"It was such a moment of hope to watch the healthcare workers begin to get vaccinated today," said Governor DeWine.

It's a simple idea – take what you normally spend for Christmas, or even less, and go on a Caribbean cruise. In John Grisham's 2001's Skipping Christmas (Doubleday ISBN 0-385-50583-3) that is the premise, and how horrible it could be.

Luther and Nora Krank see their twenty-three year old daughter Blair off for a two year tour with the Peace Tour, and Luther goes home with a new idea. With Blair gone he totals up what they spent last Christmas, and how much chaos and frenzy the holiday brings to his life.

As farmers finish up harvest for 2020, we take a look back on 2019 and how Hardin County crop yields were affected by the wet year which had the county 2nd in the state for prevented planting acres.

As Hardin County farmers finish this year’s corn and soybeans, crop yields from the 2019 growing season have been released from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service.

Although these crop production numbers are based on estimates, they are used for crop insurance and government reporting purposes.
