The Icon's recent "So, you think you know Ada?" photo brought an explanation about the "Kipker 1968" block at the top of the building.

Jennifer Kipker provided the Icon with the following information:

The building is now owned by my husband, Bob Kipker, but was previously owned by his grandfather, Louis Kipker, Sr.

There had been another building beside it that burned down years ago, exposing a wall that wasn't intended to be exterior, therefore it was deteriorating.

Bob and his friend, Tim Rayl, spent 4 years replacing that wall, brick by brick, row by row.

Courtney Sumner tallied 13 points in the second half to end up with a game-high 15 markers, netting 10 points in the final stanza.

MT. BLANCHARD - The visiting Ada girls basketball team lost a defensive battle to non-league foe Riverdale 39-26 Tuesday night.

The Lady Bulldogs led 6-4 after the first period, but Ada went scoreless in the second stanza to fall behind 16-6 at intermission.

Riverdale extended the lead to 33-13 with a 17-7 third quarter run.

Ada outscored the Lady Falcons 13-6 in the final period, but the 20-point deficit was too much to overcome.

The purple and gold dropped to 1-3 with the defeat. Riverdale improved to 1-1 with the win.

"It was disappointing," said Ada third-year head coach Morgan Bass.

This year has seen fewer releases and no live concerts. Still, in 2020, several artists made worthy efforts in creating good to great albums. The full reviews for each release on this list are found in the links to the (Ada) Icon.

Folklore - Taylor Swift
Swift’s new direction is a good one for this album. Folklore is a commercial and critical success. While unlikely to go down as the artist’s best album, there is more than enough creativity, artistry, and variety to keep the Swifties happy.

So, you think you know Ada? You need to look up to find this. Answer is below.

Series of campus-wide events in the fall worked toward diversity equity and inclusion

FROM ONU FACEBOOK - One of Ohio Northern University’s defining traits has always been its close-knit, family atmosphere.

For the majority of students, ONU feels and looks a lot like home. But for other students, it doesn’t. For students from other parts of the country or another part of the world, arriving on a campus so strongly rooted in the rural traditions of the American Midwest can take some getting used to.

Covid-19 concerns changed this year's drive, however the need remains

There will be no Salvation Army red kettle in Ada this holiday season, according to Kathy Reese of the Hardin County Salvation Army.

“This year with the pandemic we had to drastically change our drive,” she told The Icon.

“With our largest red kettle location closing at the end of October, which was the Kenton Kroger, and huge concern about protecting our ringers and givers, we have had to go virtual in 2020,” she said.

In place of an Ada red kettle and all county red kettles, the Hardin drive is a “virtual bells” event.

Reese said that the county Salvation Army board reconsider how best to conduct its red kettle campaign this year.
