MEDIA RELEASE–A private pesticide applicator preparation class is being held in Hardin County on Thursday, January 29, at the Ohio State University Extension in Hardin County office in Kenton to help people prepare for the exams.
The class will run from 4:00-7:00 p.m. The cost of the class is $30. A copy of the Core Ohio Pesticide Applicator Study Guide will be provided. Anyone wishing to take the class must visit go.osu.edu/hardinanrprograms or call the Extension office at 419-674-2297 to pre-register by Thursday, January 15, 2026.

MEDIA RELEASE__The Findlay Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred on December 18, 2025, at approximately 10:15 p.m. The crash occurred on County Road 15 north of State Route 309 in Hardin County.
Unit #1, a 2005 Toyota Camry, was disabled in the northbound lane of County Road 15. Brittany Font, age 42, of Vaughsville, Ohio was in Unit #2, a 2010 Dodge Caravan, parked in front of Unit #1 attempting to jump start Unit #1. Jonathan Font, age 46, of Vaughsville, Ohio, was between the vehicles attempting to hook up jumper cables. Neil Hauenstein, age 61, of Bluffon, Ohio, was in Unit #3 that was northbound on County Road 15.

BLOOMDALE__The visiting Ada High School girls basketball team used a big second half to defeat Blanchard Valley Conference foe Elmwood 41-36 on Thursday, December 18.
Ada outscored the Royals 27-16 in the second half to overcome a six-point intermission deficit. A 16-11 fourth quarter earned the purple and gold the road win.
The Bulldog girls rallied to win the third quarter 11-5 and tie it up 25-25 heading to the final stanza. Five different girls scored in the third period to pace the balanced Bulldogs.
The Village of Ada Council held its last regular meeting for 2025 on Tuesday, Dec. 16, with all members present and Mayor Dave Retterer presiding.
Council took action on three legislative items, including a resolution for the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Hardin County Commissioners for reimbursement to the County for indigent defense representation at the Hardin County Municipal Court. DEC. 18 MEDIA RELEASE__On November 24, 2025 Paula Dirmeyer came to the Ada Police Department to report that she had been assaulted within the Village of Ada by a known individual. Officers gathered information from her and began an investigation.
On November 27, officers were notified by the Allen County Sheriff’s Office that Paula had been found deceased in her rural Allen County home; her body was transported to Lucas County for a post-mortem exam.

This individual goes above and beyond what is required in the areas of accomplishments and civic involvement. Nominees have improved the quality of the Ada community and have made strides to make Ada and ONU a place of pride. The nominee may be a community leader or even a “silent server” in the community who often will forego personal recognition in the interest of making a difference.
