Roger Dean Young, 1936-2026

UPDATE A memorial service will be held from 1:00-4:00 PM on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at the English Chapel at Ohio Northern University.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada. 

Roger Dean Young, age 89, of Ada, passed away peacefully at Vancrest of Ada, surrounded by his family, on March 19, 2026. 

He was born on October 13, 1936, in Middletown, Ohio, to Ellison and Beatrice Young.

Bob Dylan is considered one of the best songwriters of our time. In April of 1976, he released a song only in Japan called One More Cup of Coffee. The song could be found on his 4th album titled Desire. The recording is famous for the backup vocals by Emmylou Harris.

APRIL 25 MEDIA RELEASE__The Bluffton Ohio Historical Society announced “A Museum in the Making” at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center on Main Street, Bluffton on Thursday, April 23, 2026.  

During this presentation, the Society disclosed plans to purchase and renovate two adjacent properties on North Main Street that are intended to become the future BOHS Museum.  Attendees learned what is planned for the museum, the projected timeline, and plenty of questions were asked about this exciting project.   

Pickup is on June 9 from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m.

For over 21 years, Don has been a dedicated direct-contact leader—and continues to serve even after his children have completed their Scouting journey. Always willing to step up, Don regularly volunteers for events, assists with planning, and ensures his Scouts never miss opportunities to serve their community—even when it means adjusting his own schedule.

ADA__The Ada High School baseball team suffered one bad inning and lost 6-4 to visiting non-conference rival Delphos Jefferson on Tuesday, April 28.

The Wildcats scored five runs in the top of the third inning to break a scoreless tie. 

The Bulldogs crept back into contention with single runs in the fourth and fifth frames. DJ tacked on an insurance run in the sixth to lead 6-2.

Ada plated two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but their rally fell short.

ADA__The Ada High School softball team rallied from a shaky start to soundly defeat visiting Delphos Jefferson 11-4 in their non-conference contest on Tuesday, April 28.

The Bulldogs fell behind 4-0 after Wildcat Claire Brinkman launched a three-run homer in the top of the first inning.

But Ada fought right back with four runs in the home half of the first to tie it up.

BLOOMDALE__The Ada track and field teams competed at a three-team Blanchard Valley Conference meet hosted by Elmwood on Tuesday, April 28.

The Bulldog boys finished second, 21 points behind Arlington, with 63 points. Elmwood tallied 28.

The host Royals won the girls meet with 71 points, followed by Arlington (55) and Ada (45).

BOYS RESULTS

Ada senior speedster Kayleb Hickman won the 400-meter run in 56.41.

He also took second in the 100-meter dash (11.74) and was also second in the 200 meters (23.7).

Bulldog sophomore Rhett Ulrey won the 800 meters in 2:20.1.

MEDIA RELEASE__Upper Scioto Valley baseball fell to North Baltimore 6-2 Tuesday night, April 28, in Northwest Central Conference play.
