ADA - Ada travels to Crestview in a Northwest Conference showdown Friday that could go a long way toward deciding the league champion.
Ada (4-2, 2-1 NWC) whipped visiting Columbus Grove 37-0 in week six to climb back into the thick of the conference title chase.
Previously unbeaten Crestview (5-1, 2-1 NWC) was knocked off by visiting Spencerville 49-34 last Friday to create a five-way tie for first place in the league at 2-1.
During the past week soybean harvest has kicked into high gear. The extended dry period has allowed farmers an uncommon opportunity to harvest non-stop. In some fields they are having trouble staying ahead of the drying beans – grain moisture dropping as low as 10%, increasing the chance of shattering before harvest.
Soybeans generally are the first crop to be harvested, but even then it depends on the planting date of the corn and soybeans. Some years, the soybeans are planted late enough that both crops are ready to harvest about the same time. Corn harvest will begin in the next seven to ten days for many fields.

Bridge Bereavement Services will offer a presentation to address the myths associated with grief on Monday, October 16, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Marathon Auditorium at Blanchard Valley Hospital, 1900 South Main Street, Findlay. The presentation is free, open to the public and registration is not required.
This presentation will focus on dispelling the many myths and misconceptions of grief such as “grief gets better the second year” and “grief will progress in predictable stages.”
ADA — The Ohio Northern men's cross country team is ranked No. 19 in the first weekly United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III poll, released on Wednesday.
The Polar Bears (46-6 overall) received 87 points in the poll.
Ohio Northern was ranked No. 17 in the preseason poll and No. 19 in the first weekly poll.
North Central (Ill.) remained in the top spot with 280 points and all eight first place votes, SUNY Geneseo is second with 269 points and Wisconsin-La Crosse is third with 262 points.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Oct. 14 at the Principia (Ill.) Cowbell Classic Pre-National race.
