A wet lesson

Thanks to an American Red Cross swimming course 70 Ada and area youth improved their swimming skills this month. According to Sandy Neely, who headed up the program, 36 volunteers assisted. A story and photos are elsewhere on this page.

70 Ada and area youth improve their swimming skills

Seventy Ada youth improved their swimming skills thanks to a nine-day Red Cross swimming course at the Ada pool, according to Saundra Neely, American Red Cross water safety instructor.

During the lessons 36 volunteers assisted, giving in excess of 311 hours of their time for Ada youth to become safer in and around water. Some helpers were in the water, while others worked on deck and some did both.

Ada Bingo set for Thursdays in August

Ada Bingo plays on Thursdays in August at the Alumni N-men’s Building in downtown Ada.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; Bingo begins at 6:55 p.m.. Ada Bingo uses new,
radio-controlled electronic machines, as well as, traditional paper
packages.

Proceeds from Ada Bingo benefits the Ada Lion's Club and Ada Music
Boosters.

Women's tennis named ITA All-Academic team; five named scholar-athletes

For the 11th time in the past 12 seasons, the Ohio Northern women's tennis team has been named a ITA All-Academic Team.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above.

The Polar Bears posted a team GPA of 3.44.

In addition, junior Lauren Rife, junior Kelsi Wurm, sophomore Kristin Cellentani, sophomore Brittany Miller and freshman Taryn Stromback all earned Scholar-Athlete honors.

In order to be eligible to be a Scholar-Athlete, a player must be a varsity letter winner and have a GPA of at least 3.50.

Tickets on sale for Sept. 28 Awaken Fest'

Tickets are now on sale for the Saturday, Sept. 28, Awaken Fest’ to be held in at the Hancock County Fairgrounds, 1017 E. Sandusky St., Findlay.

Awaken Festival is an event filled with the biggest names in Christian music, merchandise booths, food vendors and family friendly activities.

The Fest’ enlists the help of over 100 volunteers, secure in-kind donations, and rely on the generosity of supporters like you to make Awaken Fest affordable for as many people as possible.
