Lots of Ada 4-H animals visit to Bluffton retirement home

Several members of the Ada Barnyard Farmers 4-H Club took their animals to Bluffton on July 25. There they showed them to residents of the Mennonite Memorial Home.

Rhythm in Motion Dance Centre open house Aug. 3; free classes week of Aug. 5

Rhythm in Motion Dance Centre 220 N. Main St., Ada, will host its 7th annual open house on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to Darcey Schneider, studio owner.

Taking place will be registration for fall classes, fitted for your dance shoes, purchase and shop for new dance attire, bags, and more, according to Schneider. There will be free giveaways.

Dave Simon served in countless Ada community activities

David A. Simon, 65, died Saturday, July 27, 2013, at 10:40 a.m. at his residence in rural Ada. He was born on June 10, 1948, in Lima, Ohio to Sylvan "Dutch" and Wanda (Morrison) Simon; both are deceased. Oct. 11, 1969 he married Karen Krofft and she survives in Ada.

Dave retired as a Machinist from Dana Corporation in Lima, and was a member of the UAW Local 1765. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He volunteered his service to the Ada community for 18 years as a member of the Ada-Liberty Volunteer Fire Department ending his service as a Captain. Dave was a 1966 graduate of Ada High School.

Artificial turf in Ada

Ohio Northern University's Dial-Roberson Stadium and the infield of the track complex, located adjacent to the football facility, will both receive artificial turf for the upcoming 2013-14 season. Read the story elsewhere on this page.

ONU will install field turf in Dial-Roberson Stadium, ONU Track and Field Complex

Ohio Northern University's Dial-Roberson Stadium and the infield of the track complex, located adjacent to the football facility, will both receive artificial turf for the upcoming 2013-14 season.

"The addition of turf at Ohio Northern University will help strengthen and add greater facility depth and flexibility to our athletic programs as well as provide more opportunities for all of our students," said Daniel A. DiBiasio, president of Ohio Northern University. "Ohio Northern's athletic programs are a regional and national power, and with this addition we will be able to enhance soccer, football, and track and field."
