PUBLIC NOTICE__Courthouse Security Screening Policy; Effective Date: February 9,2026 

1. The purpose of this policy is to ensure the safety and security of all individuals  within the courthouse by preventing the introduction of weapons, explosives, and  prohibited items into the facility.  

2. All individuals entering the Hardin County Court House-including citizens, legal professionals, and employees, are subject to security screening.  

a. Hours of operation: Screening stations are active during all hours the building is open to the public. Monday- Friday 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

ADA__The Ada High School girls basketball team ran out to a 29-0 halftime lead and dominated visiting Calvary Christian 43-4 to punctuate Senior Night on Tuesday, February 3.

The Bulldog girls led 13-0 after the first period as Lucy Carter nailed the game’s only triple and scored five points.

Two adjacent businesses in the 100 block of S. Main St. in Ada were destroyed by fire on the afternoon and evening of Monday, February 2. Viva Maria restaurant and The Cask Room bar, as well as apartments above them, were thoroughly damaged by fire and partially demolished during firefighting efforts. 

Patricia Ann Morgan, age 74, of Ada, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Vancrest of Ada. 

She was born on December 1, 1951, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Robert and Mary (Smith) Wireman.  

Patricia is survived by her four children: Renee Bailey, Robin (Greg) Hodge and James (Amy) Morgan, all of Kenton and Robert Brian; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; three brothers: Tim (De) Wireman, Jeff (Tina) Wireman and Dennis Wireman; and a sister, Cathy Albert. 

She was preceded in death by her grandson, three brothers: Gary, Doug and Chuck Wireman; and a sister, Debbie. 

On February 2 many community members reached out to the Ada Icon with information and photographs relating to the fire at Viva Maria restaurant. Thank you so very much for supporting Ada in this way. We will continue to share information on how the fire has impacted local residents and businesses.
