Charles VanDyne, age 95, of Ada, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at his residence.  

He was born on September 19, 1930, in Marion Township, Hardin County, Ohio, to Okey and Ethel (Preston) VanDyne, who preceded him in death.  

Charles was a 1948 graduate of Ada High School. In 1952, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio Northern University and his Juris Doctor of Law degree in 1954, also from Ohio Northern University.  Charles served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956 during the Korean Conflict.

For the Thanksgiving weekend, I tried my hand at an Icon poll, What's your favorite on the Thanksgiving menu? Let's just say there were a few technical difficulties/operator errors. Dressing came out #1 with a whopping 7 votes.

Here's a postscript to the November 27 article VFW flag retirement ceremony honors the Stars and Stripes. J.D. Fleece, president of the VFW Auxiliary, reports that there were approximately 100 people in attendance and 1,300-1,500 flags retired.
