COLUMBUS GROVE - The visiting Ada volleyball team lost in straight sets at Columbus Grove in the Northwest Conference opener Tuesday evening.
The purple and gold fell to 4-5 overall and 0-1 in the NWC with the 25-21, 25-23, 25-15 defeat. Defending league co-champion Grove improved to 4-2 and 1-0 in the NWC with the win.
Junior middle Megan Light topped the Bulldogs with eight kills and 17 digs.
Junior Miranda Wills hit for six kills and hustled up a dozen digs to go with four aces.
Senior libero Kendal Guagenti came up with 17 digs. Sophomore setter Kirsten Poling passed out 13 assists and hit for three kills.
Ada Church of Christ Disciples is holding an open house on Saturday, Sept. 21 from noon to 5 p.m., during the Harvest and Herb Festival.
Come and meet Pastor Jacob Reel, make your own ice cream sundae and listen to some gospel music.
Performers include Sonya Petty playing the saxophone, Arnold Coy, Chris Baldwin, and Esther Walker on the pipe organ. To close the open house, the ONU Gospel Swing Choir will perform at 4:30 p.m.

Applications are being accepted for the 2019 Hardin County Agriculture Hall of
Fame through the end of business on Tuesday, October 15.
Nominees must have made their major contribution to agriculture primarily as a result of being born, growing up, living in, or working in Hardin County, Ohio. Outstanding agriculturalists may be nominated by individuals or organizations.
Dr. Clara Rimmer has joined Blanchard Valley Medical Practices. Dr. Rimmer will be a provider at Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine of Northwest Ohio, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System. She provides a variety of pulmonary care services, specializing in individualized asthma therapy and tobacco cessation.
Dr. Rimmer received her medical degree from Albany Medical College and her medical degree from Albany Medical College. She completed her internal medicine residency and pulmonary & critical care fellowship at the University of Rochester Medical Center.
The Bluffton community’s 16th annual Fall Festival, with many family-oriented activities, takes place throughout the community on Saturday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
New this year, Bluffton Family Recreation will host a “Kickoff Event” on Friday, Sept. 27, beginning at 5 p.m.
