ONU presents author of ‘The Faces of Lee Harvey Oswald’
Author Scott Johnson will discuss his book, “The Faces of Lee Harvey Oswald: The Evolution of an Alleged Assassin,” in Ohio Northern University’s McIntosh Ballroom on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
The event, sponsored by ONU’s Department of History, Politics and Justice and ONU’s Cultural and Special Events committee (CASE), is free and open to the public.
With “The Faces of Lee Harvey Oswald,” Johnson provides the first comprehensive and objective analysis of Oswald’s role in the Kennedy assassination. Johnson decided to write his book once he realized that any theory related to Oswald’s role appears as convincing as the next, particularly when researchers carefully select only the information that advances their preferred theory. However, considering the mystery surrounding Oswald’s life and death, as well as the complexity and ambiguity surrounding Kennedy’s murder, Oswald’s role in the assassination offers little certainty. In his book, Johnson aims to analyze Oswald in an objective manner by presenting several different paradigms, or lenses, from which to view Oswald’s role in the assassination.
Johnson is a professor and coordinator of the law and society program at Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Md. His primary teaching interests are American politics, constitutional law and criminal justice. Johnson earned his Master of Arts from the University of Akron and his Ph.D. from Kent State University.
