ONU senior National Champion Matt Molinaro (Sterling Heights, Mich./DeLaSalle) and junior All-American Ian McVey (Stow/Munroe Falls) have each earned Div. III United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association honors for the 2018 outdoor track and field season.

The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the region's top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award – Atlantic, Central, Great Lakes, Mideast, Midwest, New England, South/Southeast, West – match those used during the cross country and indoor track & field season.

The Ada High School baccalaureate service will take place at 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 23. This is a change from the original time of 7 p.m. in order for the girls' softball team to have time to return to Ada after their softball tournament game.

The Ada High School softball team will play Tinora in the regional semi final at 5 p.m. Wednesday May 23, at the Marathon Diamonds, Findlay. All tickets are $7 with no presale, according to Ken Jochims, Ada HS athletic director.

Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance event at The Inn

Drew Hiester of ATI in Ada and Angela Polachek, representing the Village of Ada, accepted safety awards from the Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance during a breakfast at The Inn on Thursday morning.

• The ATI honor was for group achievement.
• The Village was cited for a 100 percent safety record.

Ada Schools also received an award, but a representative was unable to attend.

Two area schools also received safety awards during a ceremony.

Seven athletes from the Ohio Northern men's and women's track and field teams will represent Ohio Northern at the 2018 NCAA Div. III Outdoor National Championships hosted by the University of Wis.-La Crosse from May 24-26.

 

Community Health Professionals gala supports hospice program

Community Health Professionals annual dinner and auction will be Thursday evening with dinner at 6 p.m. and the auction beginning at 7 p.m.

The gala supports CHP hospice program. Several thousand dollars are raised annually for the Beacon of Hope, which provides care for patients and families.

The lighthouse symbolizes each individual’s life and the hope that hospice brings.
Donations are gathered throughout the year from businesses for a silent auction, live auction, and raffle. The dinner will be catered by Tavern 101. Cost for the dinner, open house, and auction is $20.
