The Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law has announced the inaugural year of “Summer in Iceland,” the nation’s first American Bar Association (ABA) approved study-abroad summer program in Iceland.

ONU has held exchange partnerships with the University of Iceland for more than 50 years, and this new program is a continuation of that partnership. This program gives law students the chance to live in and explore one of Europe’s most unique countries, known for its blend of urban culture and incredible scenic views. Often called the “city that never sleeps,” Reykjavik, Iceland, provides students countless opportunities for exploration and discovery during its 24 hours of summer sunshine.

Students will take comparative constitutional law, law of the sea, and international litigation courses that will broaden their understanding and expand their perspective of domestic and international law. Classes are limited to 40 students and are scheduled from Monday through Thursday, which creates three-day weekends during which students can explore Reykjavik and discover all that Iceland has to offer.

To be eligible, U.S. law students must have completed at least one year of full- or part-time study at an ABA-approved or state-accredited law school and be required to provide a letter of good standing from the dean of their law school, a completed application, and a copy of their passport.
