No one would want to take a dive into this dry swimming pool on a hot summer day (well, it was still summer until 4:02 p.m. Friday). Temps reached near 90 degrees on Friday, the last day of summer. People would have flocked to the pool, but Ada's favorite swimming hole was dry as a bone because a million dollar renovation is underway. Never fear, the pool will be ready for its usual opening time in late May with a new splash pad and other improvements. But, a swim would have been welcome this week when the temperatures remained in the high 80s all week, probably the hottest week of 2017.

The Ada Dog Park Association is raising funds for an off-leash dog park. This map shows the need: There are 1,352 registered dog owners in 45810 ZIP code, according to the Hardin County auditor's office.
Mapmaker Jimmy Wilson took the auditor's information and plotted where fury friends live in the Ada area. One might be surprised to learn so many dogs live in the community. There are probably more dogs here than this map shows because not everyone who owns a dog buys a license, which if caught could be an expensive offense.

ADA — Senior Haley Potters (Wheelersburg/South Webster) tied a career-high with 20 kills and sophomore McKenna Jordan (Toledo/Saint Ursula) had 18 kills to lead No. 22-ranked Ohio Northern to a 4-set volleyball victory over Kenyon Wednesday night at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears (10-3 overall) also got 13 kills from sophomore Chelsea Huppert (Bremen, Ind.) and 57 assists from Katie Wade (Battle Creek, Mich./Harper Creek) in the 21-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-22 win.
The Ladies (8-4) were led by Haley Witschey with 13 kills and Schuyler Stupica with 10 kills.
