LIMA - The visiting Ada volleyball team lost in four tough sets at Lima
Central Catholic Thursday night in a non-league battle.

The Bulldogs fell to 6-5 overall and 1-1 on the road with the 25-23,
25-19, 21-25, 25-21 defeat.

Senior ace Melina Woods led Ada with 32 kills, 11 digs, three blocks and
two aces.

Senior setter Maddie Gossard doled out 27 assists, made seven digs and
served four aces.

Senior libero Olivia Alexander came up with 17 digs while classmate
defensive specialist Kaiti Newland added 13 digs.

Bearcats win NWC golf tourney

DELPHOS - Regular season champion Spencerville won the nine-team Northwest Conference golf tournament crown Wednesday at the Delphos Country Club.

The Bearcats won with just 341 strokes. Lincolnview took second (353), followed by Paulding (362), Bluffton (373), Allen East (375), Columbus Grove (383), Crestview (384), Delphos Jefferson (416) and Ada (469) in ninth.

"All the guys have improved a lot," said Bulldog head coach Jason Campbell of the young team's progress. "We have met the team goals that were set at the beginning of the season.

Hardin County - During the month of August, Extension volunteer rainfall reporters received an average of 1.39 inches of rain.  The most rain for this month, 3.40 inches, fell in Jackson Township as measured by Rick Weber.  The least rain reported during the month, 0.65 inches was reported in Marion Township by Mark Lowery.  During the same month last year, an average of 5.22 inches of rain fell.  The rainfall recorded in August over the past ten years averaged 4.03 inches. 

Finishing touches go in place in McIntosh Center on the ONU campus. One of those touches involves window work.

Bob Olwin: "Spencerville got a big win at Allen East; both teams played very hard

Ada travels to Spencerville next Friday in a week five road battle between 1-0 Northwest Conference foes coming off nailbiting wins.

The Bulldogs held off a 26-point second half rally at Delphos Jefferson to beat the defending NWC champions 35-33 in week four. Spencerville (2-2) won a thriller at Allen East in their league opener last Friday in overtime, 27-20.
