Ada's latest news

Think about recording them

By Monty Siekerman
Paul Logsdon (left) and Jimmy Wilson discussed digital history Friday at the business college.

About 50 students from Lima Senior High School learned the importance of recording history.

Paul served as director of Heterick Library for many years and now is archivist for ONU. He has helped with town and gown histories over the years.

Jimmy, a business prof, has instructed classes in how to research history and present and maintain the information for future generations.

He said memories, experiences, and impressions have value and should be recorded.

Musicians very successful at New Philadelphia

News flash from the Ada Music Boosters Facebook:

Another sweep and another five first place trophies for our already packed trophy case!

Five Ada groups participated in this past weekend's OIPA event in New Philadelphia, including flag line, rifle line, gold team winter guard, purple team winter guard and winds.

Congrats to all Ada performers and directors Mr. Lischak and Amy Webb. Perhaps the highlight of the day was the humorous award ceremony exit of one lovable t-rex (Jacob Bassitt) and monkey sidekick (Jacob Morgan).

No one won, no one lost, but there were lots of smiles among the dozen or so residents who sat in a circle and batted the balloon around, even getting this photographer into the game. Before the competition began, residents enjoyed an ice cream dessert...the added sugar gives you energy for the game, you know. (Monty Siekerman photo)

This much we know: It's an ONU plate on a black Volkswagon spotted near the First United Methodist Church. We ask Icon viewers, "Who belongs to this plate?"

Amherst (Mass.) defeated ONU's nemesis Christopher Newport (Va.), 66-51.

Tufts (Mass.) defeated St. Thomas (Fla.) 60-57.

Amherst defeated Tufts, 52-29, for the Championship. This was the lowest scoring championship basketball game in NCAA Division III history.

Also, attendance for the final game was the lowest ever with the two Massachusetts teams in the final being a long way from Grand Rapids
