Scouting is approaching its 116th anniversary since our founding in England in 1907 and this past February 8 was the 113th birthday of the Boy Scouts of America. The founder of Scouting, Lord Baden Powell, called Scouting a game with a purpose.   

The founding of Scouting was somewhat of an accident.  While Lord Baden Powell was a General for the British Army prior to the turn of the century, serving during wars in Africa and India, he wrote a book for military scouts called Aids to Scouting.  Much to his surprise when he returned to England, adolescent boys were acquiring his book that he had written for adults. 

On his return from Africa in 1903, Baden-Powell found his military training manual, Aids to Scouting, had become a best-seller, and was being used by teachers and youth organizations. Baden-Powell decided to re-write Aids to Scouting to suit a youth readership. In August 1907, he held an encampment on Brownsea Island to test out his ideas with approximately 20 boys.

After his observations on Brownsea Island, Baden Powell wrote Scouting for Boys from his findings and experiences. The Scouting movement exploded all over England.

Procedures that we commonly perform are endoscopy as well as colonoscopy, along with specialized endoscopic procedures of the biliary tree and pancreas.

The pair are the third and fourth Bulldog wrestlers to make it to the state meet.

March 6, 2023--There are 14 individual weight classes contested in each division of the state tournament, and that has been the case since 1995. Before then there were 13 weight classes, an era that started in 1971, which was the first year of the boys’ state wrestling tournament having multiple divisions (Class AAA and Class A-AA).

In that 1995 season, Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit became the first team to crack the 200-point barrier, as the Warriors had 203 points on the strength of five state champions. Since then, the mark has been exceeded 13 times, four by Lakewood St. Edward (2005-2007, 2012) and nine by St. Paris Graham Local (2007-2011, 2015-2018). It should be noted the first 50 editions of the state tournament never saw a team even exceed 100 points, as Akron Coventry was the first to do so with their 158.5 points in the 1978 Class AA tournament.

March 6, 2023--The growth in participation and increase in popularity that girls wrestling has experienced in Ohio in recent years figures to only be the beginning of bigger things to come for the sport.

One of the final major prep events to be held in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out the OHSAA-sanctioned state tournaments in boys wrestling, girls basketball and boys basketball was the inaugural girls wrestling state tournament sponsored by the Ohio High School Wrestling Coaches Association (OHSWCA) held in late February of that year.

In 1983, the Police released their number one hit Every Breath You Take. The bestselling single was from their last studio album Synchronicity. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003 and in 2015, the band was awarded for the most played song in radio history.

Gordon Sumner aka Sting left the band in 1985 to pursue a solo career. Sting was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2000 and was a Kennedy Center Honoree in 2014. In March of 2021, he released Duets with 17 tracks collaborating with superstars such as Eric Clapton, Mary J. Blige, and Annie Lennox. In 2021, he had a role in Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez.
