Harold M. “Gus” Guthrie, age 82, passed away at his residence in Ada on Monday, January 24, 2022.
He was born on April 27, 1939, in Roscoe, Ohio to the late Charles and Lillian (Dunn) Guthrie. On February 2, 1958, Gus married Norma J. Shelton and she preceded him in death on January 14, 2018. He later married Patsy Rice on April 27, 2019; she survives in Ada.
Gus is also survived by his two children: Kathy (Jerry) O’Hara of Gahanna and Steven (Shelly) Guthrie of Pandora; five grandchildren: Kristy (Reggie) Glaspie, Heather O’Hara, Jason O’Hara, Paige (Danny) Miles and Jordan Guthrie; one great grandchild, Willow Miles; and many nieces and nephews.
Phillip W. Bradley, age 79, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022, at his residence.
He was born on November 11, 1942, in Hardin County, Ohio to the late Adam and Ressie (Patton) Bradley. On November 1, 1963, Phillip married Harriet Jane Ritchey and she survives in Alger.
Also surviving are two sons: Mark Bradley of Forest and Kurt (Leslie) Bradley of Mechanicsburg; a daughter, Sherri (Randy) Heim of West Liberty; six grandchildren: Haily (Ethan) Conway, Hayden (Erin) Bradley, Creighton Bradley, Devin Bradley, Samuel Heim, and Ellie Heim; and two great grandchildren: Aliza and Hudson.
The Ada-Liberty Township Joint EMS squad is familiar with busy years. The Icon reported in 2019 that the department received 527 calls. Fast forward to 2021: The department had calls for 626 runs, with 80 calls in December alone, the most 911 calls in a single month in the department's history.
Tom Miller, EMS chief, reported these stats at the January 17 meeting of the ambulance board, which is composed of Jeff Acheson, representing Liberty Township; Shelia Coressel, representing the Village of Ada, and Terry Keiser, member at large. The board meets on the third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the station on Gilbert Street.
