Mike Hood talks to Kiwanis Club about human trafficking along I-75
Mike Hood told Ada Kiwanis members about the problems with human trafficking problem along I-75 and in Allen County.
He said that not only does this problem include trafficking in the sex industry, but also trafficking in labor intensive industries. He noted that In Lima the police reported that they currently working on 1,000 cases. Lima is an origin city for trafficking victims.
As of August 2015, about 1,900 children have been recovered by the Lima police, the youngest about 9 years old. People are also trafficked for the harvesting of organs.
Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is working on this problem with the Ohio Human Trafficking Commission, said Hood.
In other club news, tickets were distributed to members for the club’s 62nd annual Pancake and Sausage Day on Saturday, March 19, at the Ada High School Cafeteria. All-you-can-eat pancakes and whole hog sausage will be served from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
