ADA__The Ada High School baseball team was beaten soundly 25-3 by visiting Blanchard Valley Conference leader Elmwood on a warm Monday, April 13 at War Memorial Park.

The Royals pounded out 22 hits and eight doubles in the win. They scored three runs in the first inning and plated six in the third to build a 9-3 lead.

Elmwood then poured 16 runs across the plate in the top of the fifth to invoke the 10-run mercy rule.

Ada dropped to 5-3 overall and 1-2 in the BVC with the home loss.

First-place Elmwood improved to 5-4-1 overall and 3-0 in BVC play after the road win.

ADA __One big inning spelled the difference in a taut battle of 10-0 softball unbeatens on a warm Monday, April 13 at War Memorial Park.

Visiting Elmwood broke open a scoreless battle with a four-run fifth inning and held on for a 4-0 victory over the Ada High School softball team in a Blanchard Valley Conference showdown to hand the Bulldogs their first loss.

A pivotal three-run home run by Trinity Sander in the fifth gave the Royals a 4-0 lead. The Bulldog girls were unable to muster much offense against the Royals and pitcher Addi Hoffman, who induced some clutch strikeouts in key situations with runners on base.

Charrilyn J. “Sherry” Benjamin, 1947-2026

Charrilyn J. “Sherry” Benjamin, age 78, of Alger, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Vancrest of Ada, surrounded by her family.

She was born on May 31, 1947, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Grover and Doris “Jan” (Koons) Guyton, Jr. On September 11, 1971, Sherry married James J. Benjamin, and he survives in Alger.

Sherry retired from Ohio Northern University, Ada, where she worked in the Financial Aid Office. She was a member of the Alger First Methodist Church. Sherry was an EMT for the USV EMS.
