Irwin Puckett, 1938 - 2017
Irwin Puckett, age 79, died on Friday, December 08, 2017 at 7:29 a.m. at St. Luke’s Hospital, Maumee, Ohio.
He was born on January 9, 1938 in Bonanza, Kentucky to the late Cecil and Susie (Manual) Puckett. On April 10, 1963 Irwin married Jacqueline “Jackie” Johnson and she preceded him in death on June 12, 2015.
Irwin retired from General Motors of Defiance as a Millwright after thirty years. He was a member of the Community Church of Cecil, Ohio. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving from January 27, 1958 until May 16, 1961, on the U.S.S. Myles C. Fox. He was a member of the AmVets Post #1991 of Defiance, the Masonic Temple Israel Putnam Lodge #797 F&AM of Continental and the American Legion Post #541 of Continental.
Irwin is survived by his two daughters: Tabatha Sue (Robert) Rhoten of Arcadia and Kimberly (Douglas) Hoffman of Defiance; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and two brothers: Paul Puckett of Waldo and Philip (Peggy) Puckett of Butler, IN.
He was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Irwin Puckett, daughter, Thelma Sue Puckett and grandson, Travis Irwin Puckett.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger with Pastor Ted Remy officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery, Alger with graveside military honors conducted by the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.
Friends may call two hours prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Alger.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hanson-Neely Funeral Home for the benevolence of the family, 701 North Front Street, P.O. Box 41, Alger, Ohio 45812.
