ONU is a busy even during spring break
By Monty Siekerman
The Ottawa-Glandorf side filled King Horn to the rafters on Tuesday evening ...and the crowd went home happy.
O-G defeated Liberty-Benton 48-37 in the regional to advance to the state Elite 8 in Division III girls basketball. During the season, L-B had a nearly perfect record, having lost only one game and that was to its nemesis O-G.
King Horn was a busy place Tuesday with Napoleon taking on Toledo Rogers later in the evening. Tonight (Wednesday, March 7) the boys Division II will play for the district title. Defiance takes on Shawnee at 6:15 p.m. while Wauseon and Van Wert look for a win in the 8 p.m. contest.
Although it’s spring break for Ohio Northern, the campus is a hopping place. More than 2,500 spectators attended the O-G/L-B tilt.
And there were three games after that during the two nights. Across campus, about 800 farmers are attending a two-day tillage conference in McIntosh Center. All of the events keep the buildings in use, rather than standing idle, and the income helps pay a few bills.
