Contributing to your IRA is a wonderful way to save for your future. You still have time to contribute to your traditional and Roth IRAs for the 2018 tax year; even though we have already begun 2019.
Using an IRA, whether it is a traditional or Roth, gives investors the opportunity for tax-deferred growth during the accumulation phase.
For many, the accumulation phase is from the time they start earning income from a job or career to the time they retire from the workforce.

Thalia Ann Sale, 81, of Newark, and formerly of Ada, died at Altercare Newark South on Friday, Jan. 18, 2019.
She was born in Ruston, Louisiana, on Dec, 15, 1937, to the late Damon Harbin and Precious (Hearon) Sale. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Schmidt. She is survived by a nephew, Brian (Hope) Schmidt; a niece, Tami Schmidt; a great-niece; two great-nephews; and several great-great nieces.
Ann received her Bachelor's in Education from Ohio Northern University and went on to teach both history and government at Ada High School. She was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association.

While you were inside Saturday morning preparing for the first winter storm of the season Ada Scout Troop 124 joined 29 other troops from around northwest Ohio for the annual Klondike Derby at Camp Berry just south of Findlay.
The derby is a test of the scouts’ physical endurance in pushing their own troop-built sled over several miles of trails and terrain and testing their outdoor skills at seven stops along the way.
The scouts had to build fires, administer aid first aid, tie knots, identify wildlife tracks, saw logs, orienteer, and team-build a project as quickly as possible.
Former Ada resident Connie (Miller) Dixon, now of Sidney, responded to the Icon’s request for snow photos.
She writes: "We always played out in the snow in Ada when I was growing up and so I still like to go out and play in the snow and I'm still growing up.” Here are descriptions of her three photos:

• My back yard...deer have eaten apples out of the bird bath
Michael Benitez will be the keynote speaker for the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, in the English Chapel at Ohio Northern University. The event is free and open to the public.
The theme of this year’s talk is “The time is always now: Upholding legacies of diversity leadership in 21st century America.”
