Buckeye East Coffee Shop, 123 E Buckeye Ave., has announced new summer hours effective today, May 16.

Tuesday-Saturday: 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Sunday-Monday: CLOSED

The shop serves specialty coffee drinks, espresso with beans from Rubato Coffee Lab and pastries by SweetKicks Candies.

Ronald L. Zimmerly, Jr., President and CEO of Liberty National Bank and its board of directors promoted Jade Hale to Branch Operations Manager of the Kenton Office as a reflection of her job performance and daily responsibilities.

Jade Hale Branch Operations Manager of the Kenton Office, started her banking career with Liberty National Bank in 2018. She has worked as a teller, a customer service representative and a trainer.

This past weekend, May 14 and 15, 2022, Ohio Northern University held three commencement ceremonies for students being awarded with undergraduate, MSA, Law, and Pharmacy degrees.

This is 151st such celebration for the university, the 138th for the pharmacy college and 137th for the law college. President Daniel A. DiBiasio presided over the ceremonies.

Noteworthy Community Choir of Ada will host a five-day Summer Sounds Choral Camp for children in grades 1-8. Campers will sing and play instruments.

DATES: July 18-22, 2022

TIMES: 9:00 a.m.-noon Monday through Thursday; 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Friday with a Community Concert at 1:00 p.m.

Participants will meet as a full choir and divide into smaller groups for specialized training, usually by grade. Snacks are provided Monday-Thursday and lunch is provided for singers on Friday before the concert. 

The camp will take place at Vicki's Music Studio in Ada.

Marvin L.  “Lukey” Ford, Jr., age 81, of Harrod, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022, at 1:16 p.m. at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born on December 20, 1940, to the late Marvin Sr. and Ethel (Wierman) Ford.  On August 7, 1961, Marvin married Marilyn (Kline) Ford; they were married for sixty years, she survives in Harrod.

The Ada track and field teams competed in the concluding second day of the annual nine-team Northwest Conference championship meet at Crestview Saturday.

The Ada girls finished sixth, with the Bulldog boys coming in ninth. Columbus Grove again won the boys title, but Spencerville overtook Grove to capture the girls team crown.

Junior Courtney Sumner took second in the 400 meters, while sophomore Josie Phillips was second in the 3200-meter run to post the top Ada showings.

Sophomore Julian Grose came in third in the 300 hurdles and fourth in the 110 high hurdles to post the best Bulldog boys finishes.
