The Hardin County Humane Society has several fund-raising events planned this spring.
Neuter scooter May 8
The society will have Neuter Scooter spay and neuter clinic for cats. It will take place Friday, May 8, at 9 a.m. Pre-registration can take place by going to neuterscooter.com or call 419-675-2932 to find out what you need to do and the cost.

The street committee of village council met Tuesday evening to discuss sidewalk use.
Can a business put signs or merchandise on the sidewalk? What about tables and chairs in front of a restaurant? Can a business that sells alcoholic beverages serve customers while sitting in a cafe-style seating arrangement on the sidewalk?
Issues of safety, liability, and freedom to do business were discussed.
Some committee members, the mayor, other village officials, and members of the public had differing views.
Lots of Ada youth will beg their parents to take them to the Ada Park on Saturday.
Here’s why: The Ada Area Chamber of Commerce, sponsor of the event, held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., has tons activities planned.

• A fishing booth with prices from Community Health Professionals
• Fun, easy musical instruments made under the direction of Vicki Mills
• Face painting and air brush tattoos provided by Brian Tomsett
• Games under the direction of YMCA
• Frisbee game by Ada Kiwanis Club
Shelby Vanatta won Best of Show at the 27th annual Kewpee High School Art Invitational. Five other Ada school students took home awards from the show which was held at ArtSpace/Lima. Shelby’s sculpture is titled Traveling Toddlers. She is a junior and the daughter of Mitchell Vanatta and Darla Crownhart.

Her sculpture was judged the best of 104 pieces entered by students from 21 high schools. The exhibition included works in various categories, including sculpture, photography, painting, digital media, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, jewelry, and drawing.
The Alger Memorial Festival Committee announced plans for its 2 p.m., Memorial Day Parade Monday, May 25.
The Theme for the parade this year is “Never Forget- Forever Honor.” Line up at the old Alger school on Main St at 1 p.m.
