The Ohio Northern University dance company will present a spring dance concert titled IMPULSE representing works based on the reaction to internal and external stimuli while exploring motif, gesture, weight, time, and space.

Faculty, guest artists, and student choreographers will present a dance concert based on emotions, ideas, experiences, and motivations using the moving body through the lens of various classical and contemporary dance genres. Informing, inspiring, educating, and entertaining, IMPULSE will connect body and community through the Biggs Theatre stage.

UPDATED 6:30 A.M. Wednesday, Jan. 25: Ada Schools will be closed and have a remote learning day on on January 25. ONU is moving to virtual instruction and administrative offices are closed on Jan. 25. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from midnight Jan. 24 to 1:00 p.m. Jan. 25.

Sondra Kay Reed, age 60, of Hickory, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at Standford Hospital in Palo Alto, California.

She was born in Lima, Ohio on February 19, 1962, to the late Elmer and Erma (Stone) Collins.   

Sondra is survived by her husband, Mark Reed; daughter, Kayla Butler; son, William Ansley; three grandchildren: Nicholas, Diego, and Julie Ansley; and sister, Debby Bryant.   

She was preceded in death by her son, Andrew Ansley, and brother, Gary Collins.

Rebecca A. Spinner, age 65, of Ada, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at her residence. 

She was born on April 18, 1957, in Kenton, Ohio to the late William Henry and Kathleen (Jordan) Paugh.  On October 9, 1999, Rebecca married Jerry Spinner, who preceded her in death. 

Rebecca is survived by her two sons: Billy (Kellie) Paugh of Forest, and Terry Spinner of Ada; three grandchildren: Jacob Paugh, Emily Paugh, and Kaden Paugh; and a brother, Ted (Lisa) Paugh of Ada.

Two new assignments have been made at the Ada Schools: in December, Lance Dearth (left) was named as Buildings, Grounds and Maintenance Supervisor; in January, Carla Cole (right) was hired as the new Executive Secretary, effective March 1.

FINDLAY, Ohio–Educators of pre-kindergarten through high school students are invited to attend a free Project WILD workshop in northwest Ohio on Friday, Feb. 10, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife. The workshop focuses on supplemental curriculums that teach wildlife-related conservation concepts using everyday subjects such as math, science, and social studies. Project WILD and Aquatic WILD (K-12) guidebooks are provided to all participants.
